Ozzy Osbourne Names Next Album
by Paul Cashmere - December 22 2009
The next Ozzy Osbourne album will be titled `Soul Sucka`.
Osbourne plans to release the follow-up to 2007’s ‘Black Rain’ around June. Although ‘Black Rain’ debuted at number 3 it was gone from the chart after a few weeks after selling only 152,000 units.
‘Soul Sucka’ was produced by Kevin Churko and will introduce Ozzy’s new guitar player Gus G. from the Greek band Firewind. Gus replaced Ozzy’s long-time guitarist Zakk Wylde.
New songs on the album include ‘Diggin Me Down’, ‘Let it Die’ and the title track.

Rehab for Steven Tyler
Rehab for Steven Tyler
by Music-News.com - December 24 2009
Wayward Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has checked himself into rehab.
The Aerosmith frontman entered an unnamed centre to seek treatment for his addiction to painkillers, which comes from years of orthopaedic injuries.
The 61-year-old rocker – who was recently rumoured to have quit the band - said in a statement: "With the help of my family and team of medical professionals, I am taking responsibility for the management of my pain and am eager to be back on the stage and in the recording studio with my bandmates Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford.
"I love Aerosmith and I love performing as the lead singer in Aerosmith. I am grateful for all of the support and love I am receiving and am committed to getting things taken care of."
Steven’s actress daughter Liv Tyler has revealed she is proud of her father for getting the help he needs.
She said: "My family and I are in complete support of my dad's decision to seek treatment. He is a courageous man. We love him and are so proud that he is getting help to balance his pain management, not just for himself but for his family, friends and fans."
In 2008, Steven went to rehab for a pain and sleep medication dependency.

The Last Stage: A Doors inspired novel
Jim Morrison, and The Doors created a legend and myth around themselves, and since the early 80’s writers have been exploring that legend and myth in their novels. The two most famous examples may be Burn Down The Night by Craig Strete. The novel is set in the early days of The Doors at UCLA with the climatic scenes being in a cemetery which of course is based on Morrison’s Cemetery poem which he included in some shows. The other is Lewis Shiner’s Glimpses which is about a stereo repairman who discovers how to go back in time to meet his Rock ‘n’ Roll idols Brian Wilson, Jimi Hendrix, and, of course, Jim Morrison.
The newest addition to novels that are Doors inspired or include The Doors and/or Jim Morrison is The Last Stage by Jim Cherry. The Last Stage follows a Doors tribute band from conception, to awkward first shows then a climb to stardom climaxing at The Whisky A-Go-Go. Along the way, the main character Michael Gray is given advice by Ray Manzarek and has a run in with the ghost of Jim Morrison. Cherry describes the novel as “a Rock ‘n’ Roll Sunset Boulevard,” and indeed the story does take the reader on a tour of The Doors’/Morrison’s Los Angeles.

Drop Dead Rock - Adam Ant & Deborah Harry DVD
Drop Dead Rock Starring Adam Ant and Deborah Harry To Be Released On DVD
11/23/2009
MVD Visual is pleased to announce the DVD release of the cult classic Drop Dead Rock on December 8, 2009. Drop Dead Rock stars '80's music icons Adam Ant and Deborah Harry. This film festival favorite played the art house circuit when it premiered in 1995. It was written by Ric Menello and Adam Dubin, the creators of the Beastie Boys classic music video Fight For Your Right To Party. Drop Dead Rock was directed by Adam Dubin who recently directed comedian Lewis Black's concert film Stark Raving Black. "I wanted to make a 60's movie about an 80's rock star in the 90's," said Dubin.
Drop Dead Rock is a no holds barred, rock and roll comedy. A down and out, rock n' roll band, Hindenburg, kidnap their favorite British rock star, Spazz-O, and hold him hostage. The problem is, Spazz-O's ex-porn star wife Holly Everest (Playboy lingerie model Chelsey Parks) and his back-stabbing manager, Dave Donovan (Adam Ant), can't wait to get their hands on his fortune, and have hired a hitman to do him in. Thanks to a media feeding frenzy, Spazz-O's career is hotter than ever. Enter media mogul Thor Sturmundrang (Deborah Harry) with a big advance check. Now Spazz-O is worth more alive than dead. Dave must outwit the bumbling band, clumsy cops, ruthless record execs and terrifying terrorists to get his just reward. Drop Dead Rock explodes in a comic free for all.
"The film is good. I can't tell you how much it made me laugh doing it," said Ant. "I still laugh now just thinking about it. It's kind of like a 90's Spinal Tap."

09/09/09 Is Beatles Day!
Cover Story: 09/09/09 Is Beatles Day!
By Mike BaconThe Beatles
(© Apple Corps Ltd, 2009)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Radio celebrates the release of the Fab Four’s remastered catalogue and
The Beatles: Rock Band video game.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
09/09/09 isn’t “666” upside down, nor is it a missing clue related to the “Paul Is Dead” myth that swept the music universe decades ago. September 9, 2009 is an enormous celebration for fans of Liverpool’s Fab Four, thusly dubbed “Beatles Day” on 100 radio stations all across the country. Each station is eagerly promoting the release of The Beatles’ entire re-mastered catalogue and the much-ballyhooed unveiling of The Beatles: Rock Band video game by breaking from normal programming from Labor Day weekend to 9/9/09 with hours of special content, playback of the newly minted masters, contests and other Beatles fare.
The main thrust of the campaign, the CDs, are packaged with replicated original UK album art, including expanded booklets containing original and newly written liner notes and rare photos. For a limited period, each CD will also be embedded with a brief documentary film about the album. On the same date, two new Beatles boxed CD collections (Beatles In Stereo, Beatles In Mono) will also be released.
The albums have been re-mastered by engineers at EMI’s Abbey Road Studios in London over a four-year period utilizing state of the art recording technology alongside vintage studio equipment, carefully maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings. The result of this painstaking process is the highest fidelity the catalogue has seen since its original release.
Participating radio stations are promoting the event accordingly, with some stations, such as Rock WRXP/New York, going the extra mile (or 1000) by broadcasting The Rock Show with Matt Pinfield and Leslie Fram remotely from Abbey Road Studios on the big day (a prospect that has ‘RXP programmer and show co-host, Fram, ”giddy." We’re jealous, LF). 101.9 RXP will be giving away Rock Band video games, the CDs, catalogues, and airing a special edition of “RXP In The UK,” playing British Invasion bands.
Triple A KCMP “The Current” in Minneapolis will be celebrating the Beatles throughout the month of September with various on-air and online components. The Current will have CDs, the video game, an Xbox Game System, and a Beatles Gold Record plaque to give away to its listeners.
While The Beatles: Rock Band weighs in heavily on the minds of its listeners, KCMP PD Jim McGuinn says, “We decided to use the re-mastering of the CDs as a great excuse to try to re-examine the impact of the Beatles on music. So we’re building out a big web component with our hosts splitting up reviews of each record, with guest commentaries from local writers on topics like the movies, impact on fashion, pop culture, several mini-polls (Best covers? Best film? Most overrated songs?), and thought starters to engage the audience to participate, plus a big listener driven countdown to wrap it all up at the end of September. Along the way we’re going to review an album a day with each DJ picking a track as we run through the catalogue.”
(© Apple Corps Ltd, 2009)
“While we’re really known here for our commitment to new music and bands,” McGuinn continues, “why not try to put the Beatles into a new context, not just a worshipful classic rock perspective, but from the viewpoint of a station that is at the forefront of music and new music? That’s the fun part about this for me.”
Classic Rock 97 Rock (WGRF/Buffalo) has been getting its audience involved by taking listener votes at their website to tabulate the “Top 97 Beatles Songs According To You” to air on 9/9 beginning at 9:09 a.m.
In addition, 97 Rock has digitally created a two-hour Beatles concert featuring live versions of Beatles classics performed by the band’s members during solo tours. The broadcast lets the listener experience what it might sound like if the Beatles were alive and well and performing together today. The concert will air on Labor Day at 6 p.m. and again on September 9th at 9 p.m.
At KINK/Portland, resident Beatles expert, Archer, has assembled clips of the Beatles talking about many of their songs, which KINK will play as intros. They’ll play the entire Beatles re-mastered catalogue in “AlphaBeaticle” order starting at 6 a.m. “The Beatles get credit for reinventing Rock and Roll to the style that is still prevalent today,” says KINK PD Dennis Constantine. “Without the Beatles, radio would sound completely different today.”
“This has been one of the best classic rock promotions roll out in several years,” adds WCSX/Detroit PD Doug Podell. “Not only has this given a shot in the arm to classic rock stations, but also to the Beatles, their fans and Beatles collectors around the world”.
While many across the country count themselves as Beatles aficionados, one radio personality in particular takes the release of the re-mastered catalogue extremely close to heart: “As a radio guy, music lover and lifelong Beatles fan, it is an honor for me to not only have these sets two weeks early to review and produce for my syndicated Breakfast With The Beatles radio show, but to even have lived to see these re-masters come to fruition!,” WMGK/Philadelphia host Andre Gardner shares. “For many years, Beatles fans have lamented the, by and large, sub-par quality that was evident in the original CD re-masters, and now...FINALLY...we can hear this precious material the way it was meant to be heard. Allen Rouse and his team at Abbey Road have done a remarkable job, and even with the bar set very high as far as expectations go, I think he exceeded them.” Click here to read about the re-mastering process, as Retro-Active's Ken Sharp recently spoke with Abbey Road engineer Allan Rouse, who provided the inside skinny on this illustrious project.
(© Apple Corps Ltd, 2009)
The Philadelphia Classic Rocker is also adding a texting component to their campaign, “We'll be playing a Beatles song every hour between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on 9-9-09. When listeners hear one, they can TEXT the name of their favorite Beatle - John, Paul, George or Ringo to MGKMGK (645645),” WMGK Promotions Director Dan Fein explains. “If our computer selects their text, they'll win the fourteen album stereo box set and a copy of the Beatles: Rock Band video game on their choice of Xbox, PlayStation or Wii.”
Triple A WRNR/Baltimore is commemorating the re-issues with a clever “Pick-A-Paul Song” contest that challenges listeners to select a Paul McCartney song and rewrite a verse or two in an attempt to “perfect perfection.” The winner nabs a trip for two to see Sir Paul at Fenway Park in Boston. Tickets to see him perform at FedEx Field in Washington, D.C will also be given away in a week-long celebration of The Beatles music. The big payoff will come in the form of forced listening call-in contests and giveaways, culminating in winners being qualified for a trip for two to visit Liverpool to take the Magical Mystery Tour.
This is the first time that 100 radio stations in major markets across the U.S. will break from traditional programming on one weekday to highlight one artist through music, features, contests and special programming. At the forefront of this monstrous radio marketing endeavor is EMI Music North America Radio Marketing Manager, Angelo Scrobe. Angelo approached FMQB some months ago with his idea of The Beatles taking over the American airwaves. It seemed like a daunting task at the time. Now a few days in, and with his campaign in full gear, the end result couldn’t be any more clear – 9/9/09 is truly Beatles Day.

BLONDIE: Still holding on
BLONDIE: Still holding on
Blond never goes out of style. And neither does Blondie, one of the great pop bands of the late ’70s new wave scene, fronted by platinum-locked icon Deborah Harry.
While known at the time for modeling the hippest clothes and the coolest hairstyles, Blondie’s catchy hooks, punk aesthetic and timeless lyrics continue to enthrall audiences, and their summer tour — stopping at the Pikes Peak Center on Tuesday — has been one of the hottest tickets of the season.
“The shows have been fun. (The fans) are always really excited to see us. It’s kind of like when you do a show, you’re paying a visit to your fans,” says drummer Clem Burke, who explains that Blondie still enjoys touring together and performing live. “It’s like a summer vacation. You’re just like a traveling circus.”
Formed in 1974, the New York-based group achieved popularity first in the United Kingdom and then in the United States, and was launched into stardom with the 1978 album “Parallel Lines,” which contained hits including “Heart of Glass,” “One Way or Another” and “Hanging on the Telephone.” The album eventually sold more than 20 million copies, and was followed up with other chart-topping songs such as “Dreaming,” “Call Me” and “The Tide is High.”
“When we started in the ’70s, we were the antithesis of what was going on in popular music at the time. That music has carried over quite a bit,” Burke says. “The hit music is our legacy, and it still feels very contemporary. … The style of music we’ve assimilated has become a Blondie sound, a New York urban sound.”
Clem explains that the live Blondie experience will be a vibrant show, consisting of their biggest hits, deeper cuts from the Blondie catalog, new music and the same fun, striking personality that endeared Blondie to millions of fans. Harry, who, if anything, is more fabulous and spirited than when she first came on the scene, never fails to connect with fans and knock socks off.
After more than 30 years, Blondie still feels fresh to its members, who continue to be inspired by and committed to one another. The band is working on a new album set to release next year, a follow-up to the successful 30th Anniversary Edition of “Parallel Lines” released in 2008.
“We feel we’re lucky we can come out and still play for our fans,” Burke says. “Whether you’re playing for 200 people or 20,000 people, it’s all about continuing to be a musician and being creative. … If you’re not performing live as a band, you’re not really a band.”

Steven Tyler Broke Shoulder In Concert Fall
Steven Tyler Broke Shoulder In Concert Fall
by Paul Cashmere - August 8 2009
Steven Tyler really hurt himself when he fell on stage in Dakota this week. The Aerosmith singer broke his shoulder.
Tyler was three songs into the set while performing the Aerosmith classic ‘Love In An Elevator’ when he tripped and fell during the Buffalo Chip Campground concert in South Dakota on Wednesday night.
Guitarist Joe Perry has now revealed is now back home in Boston and being attended to by his own doctor.
The 61-year old singer was dancing around the sound crew who were trying to replace a blown fuse during the song.
Amateur video captured the singer’s accident.
The band has cancelled their Winnipeg show and the remaining 18 dates on the tour now also seem uncertain.
An announcement of the future of the band is expected in coming days.
(I hope Steven has a speedy recovery and that Aerosmith is able to get back on the road when he is much better.)

Ozzy Book Coming
Ozzy Osbourne, The Book Is Coming
by Paul Cashmere - July 21 2009
“Every day of my life has been an event,” say Ozzy Osbourne. Those events have been documented for the book `I Am Ozzy, The Autobiography`.
The story starts with poor, little John ‘Ozzy’ Osbourne and a family who had to sleep in one room right through to his current international rock God status.
“It haunts me, all this crazy stuff,” he says. “I took lethal combinations of booze and drugs for thirty fucking years. I survived a direct hit by a plane, suicidal overdoses, STDs. I have been accused of attempted murder. Then I almost died while riding over a bump on a quad bike at fucking two miles per hour. People ask me how come I’m still alive, and I don’t know what to say”.
The book will go through Ozzy’s music, days on the road and, of course, wife Sharon and the five children.
‘I Am Ozzy’ will be published through the Little Brown Book Group in October.
(This should be a good read :)

Michael Jackson's 1984 Pepsi Accident Footage Released
Michael Jackson's 1984 Pepsi Accident Footage Released
Posted Wed Jul 15, 2009 11:32am PDT by Lyndsey Parker in As Heard On...
If you were trying to pinpoint the exact moment when things started to go downhill for Michael Jackson, a possible guess would be the afternoon of January 27, 1984, when Michael (then at the height of his career, riding the Thriller wave) was severely burned while shooting the Jacksons' now-infamous Pepsi commercial.
According to an article in the new issue of Us Weekly--the magazine that just acquired and released disturbing, previously unseen footage of the Pepsi shoot accident--Michael was never quite the same after being set ablaze by pyrotechnics that day at L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium. Us reports that Michael's addiction to various medications began after he was prescribed several types of painkillers to ease the suffering from the second- and third-degree burns on his scalp and body. .
It makes us wonder, sadly, how Michael's life and career might have panned out, had this horrific fireworks accident never occurred that fateful day. .
Us Weekly's never-before-seen accident footage can be viewed below. Please be warned it is quite graphic:
(Can you just imagine the pain MJ went thru not only physical but emotional. RIP Michael.)

George Harrison Thoughts on Allen Klein
What George Harrison Thought Of Allen Klein
by Paul Cashmere - July 5 2009
Allen Klein died on the weekend (July 4, 2009). Klein was one of the most notorious music businessmen ever. At one stage he simultaneously managed both The Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
Many knew him, few respected him! He was in it for himself and made a fortune along the way.
In my 1993 interview with George Harrison, a man who had nothing bad to say about anyone, even George had nothing nice to say about Allen.
Here is the part of the Harrison interview talking about how Klein, acting at the time as George’s business manager, went behind George’s back during the famous ‘My Sweet Lord/He’s So Fine’ plagiarism case, and bought copyright of the original Chiffons songs so that no matter what happened in the case it would go his way:
Paul Cashmere: How do you feel about "My Sweet Lord" these days. How did the court case surrounding that song affect your songwriting?
George Harrison: It didn't really affect my songwriting. I did record "This Song," which was kind of a comment about the situation.
The thing that really disappoints me is when you have a relationship with one person and they turn out to betray you. Because the whole story of "My Sweet Lord" is based upon this fellow, Allan Klein, who managed the Beatles from about 1968 or '69, through until 1973.
When they issued a complaint about "My Sweet Lord", he was my business manager. He was the one who put out "My Sweet Lord" and collected 20 percent commission on the record. And he was the one who got the lawyers to defend me, and did an interview in Playboy where he talked about how the song was nothing like the other song.
Later, when the judge in court told me to settle with them, because he didn't think I'd consciously stolen their song, they were doing a settlement deal with me when they suddenly stopped the settlement.
Some time elapsed, and I found out that this guy Klein had gone around the back door. In the meantime, we'd fired him. He went round the back door and bought the rights to the one song, "He's So Fine," in order to continue a lawsuit against me.
He, on one hand, was defending me, then he switched sides and continued the lawsuit. And every time the judge said what the result was, he'd appeal. And he kept appealing and appealing until it got to the Supreme Court.
I mean this thing went on for 16 years or something ... 18 years. And finally, it's all over with, and the result of it is I own "My Sweet Lord," and I now own "He's So Fine," and Allan Klein owes me like three or four hundred thousand dollars 'cause he took all the money on both songs. It's really a joke. It's a total joke.
Paul Cashmere: There's a movie plot in there somewhere.
George Harrison: There's definitely a book, because, now with any kind of law pertaining to infringement of copyright, they always quote this case. It's become the precedent in all these law students' books.
Paul Cashmere: So we might be seeing George Harrison make a guest appearance on "LA Law."
Allen Klein died after a battle with Alzheimer’s. He was 77..

Allen Klein Dead at 77
by Paul Cashmere - July 5 2009
Notorious music figure Allen Klein, the one-time manager of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, has died after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s at the age of 77.
Allen Klein worked with the most celebrated artists in the world and build up one of the world’s great publishing and record companies ABKCO.
Klein’s first client was Bobby Darin whom he met at a wedding in 1957. In 1963, he became the business manager for Sam Cooke. He created Tracey Records, a new label for Cooke and after Cooke’s death in 1964 bought the rights to the label (and Sam’s music) from Sam’s wife Barbara.
In 1965, Klein became co-manager of the Rolling Stones with Andrew Loog Oldham and then bought Oldham’s share out a year later. Mick Jagger didn’t trust him. He fired him to set up his own business in 1970.
Mistrust was a common trait in Klein stories. During the filming of the Stones Rock and Roll Circus, Klein met John Lennon. It was soon after the death of The Beatles manager Brian Epstein. It took two years but Lennon convinced Ringo Starr and George Harrison that Klein should take over the business of The Beatles. Paul McCartney didn’t want him and did not sign the agreement.
The disagreement of management was what brought an end to The Beatles.
Klein continued working with John through the ‘Imagine’ album and helped George organise ‘The Concert for Bangla Desh’. The concert created a riff with George and John after Klein sided with Harrison to keep Yoko out of the show. That is why John Lennon was not on The Concert for Bangla Desh.
Klein screwed Harrison next. While that whole ‘My Sweet Lord/He’s So Fine’ plagiarism suit was happening. (George unknowingly based the melody for My Sweet Lord on the 60s hit ‘He’s So Fine), Klein bought the rights to the earlier song but continued to fight George’s claim behind his back knowing that either way he would win.
It was also Allen Klein who was behind the legal battle with The Verve over ‘Bittersweet Symphony’. The band negotiated with Klein to sample an orchestrated piece of the Stones ‘The Last Time’. After the song was a hit, Klein demanded 100% of the royalties claiming The Verve sampled too much of the song.
So Allen Klein is dead. There probably won’t be many nice stories written about the man. He was ruthless. Some will remember him as an incredibly savvy businessman. Most will probably write up that he would have sold his own mother if there were a buck in it for himself.

Tribute to Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson Dead at 50: A Life of Talent and Tragedy
By JOSH TYRANGIEL -- Josh Tyrangiel
The tragedy of Michael Jackson's death at age 50, reportedly from cardiac arrest, pales in comparison to the tragedy of his life. To understand all that Jackson had and lost requires wiping away three decades of plastic surgeries that deformed him, erratic behavior that made his name synonymous with the warping powers of fame, and a 2005 trial for sexually abusing a child that, even though he was spared of any finding of wrongdoing, made him a pariah to all but the most brainwashed of fans.
But if you can forgive or forget all that, underneath was one of the most talented entertainers of the 20th century. Quincy Jones, who produced Jackson's quintessential solo albums, was devastated by the news of his passing. "I've lost my little brother today," Jones said in a statement. "Part of my soul has gone with him." Added Jones: "Divinity brought our souls together ... and allowed us to do what we were able to throughout the '80s. To this day, the music we created together on Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad is played in every corner of the world, and the reason for that is because he had it all." (See pictures of people around the world mourning Michael Jackson.)
Jackson was born in 1958, the seventh of nine Jackson children, and before he had reached age 6, he had joined his brothers in the Jackson Five. By age 8, he had taken over lead-singing duties with brother Jermaine, but there was no question who was the star of the group. Little Michael was the best dancer and singer of the bunch, and he also had the mysterious thing that record bosses and studio chiefs crave: star power. Michael appeared to be his best and most interesting self when everyone in the world was watching.
As Michael aged into adolescence, the Jackson Five, renamed the Jacksons after departing from Motown Records, inevitably lost some of its charm. A solo career followed, and after a steady stream of middling hits that attempted to milk the last bit of innocence from Jackson's voice, Jackson had the good fortune to hook up with Jones while filming The Wiz. The two shared a vision for what Jackson's career as an adult might be, and on 1979's Off the Wall, they executed it beyond even Jackson's dreams. With songwriting help from Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder, Off the Wall spun off four Top 10 hits and two No. 1s - "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" and "Rock with You."
At 22, Jackson became not only one of the most admired pop musicians in the world, but one of the globe's most famous people. And his fame only increased with the 1982 release of Thriller, which was to become the best-selling album of all time (until it was eclipsed in the late '90s by the Eagles' Greatest Hits, 1971-1975). Seven of the record's nine tracks made the Top 10, and the Jones-produced hooks remain awe-inspiring. In a cover story about Jackson and Thriller, TIME described Jackson as "a one-man rescue team for the music business. A songwriter who sets the beat for a decade. A dancer with the fanciest feet on the street. A singer who cuts across all boundaries of taste and style and color too."
While Jackson had few ambitions at the time beyond global domination, it's worth noting that "The Girl Is Mine" established interracial love as a pop-music theme, and "Beat It" (with Eddie Van Halen's guitar solo) bridged arena rock and soul four years before Run-D.M.C. met Aerosmith. On March 25, 1983, Jackson may have reached the very peak of his fame when he unveiled his signature dance move, the moonwalk, live on the Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever television special.
The years after Thriller, however, were marked by a slow descent into what was at first dismissible as eccentricity. Jackson attended the Grammys on a triple date with Emmanuel Lewis and Brooke Shields, purchased a chimpanzee named Bubbles and was given a diagnosis of vitiligo, a condition that he said was responsible for the steady lightening of his skin. But his songwriting genius remained undeniable. With Lionel Richie, he co-wrote "We Are the World," a 1985 charity single that raised an estimated $50 million for famine relief in Africa and ushered in the era of celebrity philanthropy.
After the release of 1987's Bad, a disappointing follow-up to Thriller, Jackson purchased the 2,800-acre Neverland Ranch in California, and his public weirdness became almost aggressive. In his biography Moonwalk, Jackson wrote of childhood abuse at the hands of his father and multiple plastic surgeries, subjects he returned to in a 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey that was one of the most watched non-sports programs in American history.
Shortly after, Jackson was accused of child sexual abuse in a suit brought by Evan Chandler on behalf of Jordan, his then-13-year-old son. Jordan told a psychiatrist and police that he and Jackson had engaged in sexual acts that included oral sex; the boy gave a detailed description of Jackson's genitals. The case was settled out of court for a reported $22 million, but the strain led Jackson to begin taking painkillers. Eventually he became addicted.
To counteract the stigma that came with the allegations of pedophilia, Jackson married Lisa Marie Presley in a relationship Elvis' only daughter later dismissed as a sham. Two years later, they divorced.
Given the tumult in his personal life, it's no surprise that the 1990s were a barren period for Jackson creatively. In 2001 he managed to pull himself together enough to release Invincible and stage two concerts celebrating his 30th anniversary as a performer at New York City's Madison Square Garden. The shows, held a few days before Sept. 11, were a capsule of all Jackson had become. There were bizarre cameos from friends Marlon Brando, Liza Minnelli and Elizabeth Taylor. Macaulay Culkin sat next to Jackson in a royal box. But several hours after the proceedings began, when Jackson finally took the stage, all the years of Wacko Jacko melted away. Then in his early 40s, he could still dance and sing better than almost anyone in the world, and he still had star power. The Jackson on display in those concerts was one the world admired and the one that will be missed.
(No matter your opinion on Michael Jackson he was a true talent and one to remember always with his inovative ways and style. A dancing genius and musical talent, let's remember Michael as the multi talented artist that he was. R.I.P. Michael)

Madonna In The Nude
Madonna In The Nude
by Music-News.com - June 19 2009
Would you pay to see Madonna naked?
In 1979, an unknown Madonna Ciccone posed nude for New York Photographer Martin Schreiber, for just $30 as she modeled to pay her way through dance school. Six years on in the early years of her stellar stardom, Martin spotted her on the cover of Time Magazine and the penny dropped – literally!
Martin dug out his intimate portraits, taken whilst teaching a photography course at the world-famous Parsons School, and offered them to Playboy Magazine. They were notoriously published in their 1985 September issue, catapulting him to fame.
Now, thirty years on the capital is gearing up for Madonna’s arrival on her Sticky & Sweet tour on 4th and 5th July. To celebrate, Seven Dials, Covent Garden’s hidden village, is set to play host to the London premiere of The Madonna Nudes - 30th Anniversary exhibition, a collection of these intimate photographs of the fifty year old pop Diva, taken when she was just 20.
Available to buy from £3,400 and guaranteed to become serious collectors’ items, this series of black and white photographs capture Madonna’s exceptional beauty as a young woman with a toned body, perfect breasts and great skin. The languid, innocent look in her eyes betrays nothing of the pop superstar and business genius she was to become.
Also for sale is a unique piece of never seen before memorabilia – a one off print of the original Polaroid test shot, which, included with the original model release and the Polaroid, is expected to fetch in excess of £40,000. This would eclipse the previous record of $37,500 recently paid at auction earlier this year for the Lee Friedlander photograph which also featured in the 1985 Playboy.
For those on a more modest budget, but wanting a little snippet of Madge, exclusive Madonna Nudes memorabilia including badges, postcards, books and original copies of the aforementioned Playboy magazine is available to buy from just £1.
The exhibition will be co-hosted by Seven Dials and Impure Art (the UK’s only erotic art gallery) who are exclusively handling the sale of the Madonna Nudes 30th Anniversary collection. See www.impureart.com for details.
Jamie McCartney of Impure Art comments; 'When you have wonderful nude photos of a beautiful young woman, taken by a great photographer and she happens to be a global icon, it’s a no brainer. With such a fantastic central London venue and with Madonna herself being in town, we are expecting huge interest.'
Donna Lambert, Communications Manager for Seven Dials adds, 'We are very excited about facilitating The Madonna Nudes and the attention that the exhibition is expected to receive. It’s a great addition for the Seven Dials visitor to enjoy.'
The Madonna Nudes will showcase at 19 Earlham Street, Seven Dials, WC2 from 2nd to 19th July. The gallery will be open seven days - Monday to Saturday, 12-7pm, and Sunday 12-6pm. For more information please visit www.sevendials.co.uk

Phil Spector Jailed For 19-Years
Phil Spector Jailed For 19-Years
by Paul Cashmere - May 30 2009
Once legendary producer Phil Spector will now be known for the rest of his life as Phil Spector, murderer. Spector will spend the next 19 years in jail for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson.
Spector murdered 40-year old Clarkson at his home in Alhambra, California on February 3, 2003.
He was originally charged with murder and went to court but the first case was dismissed because of a hung jury.
In this case, the retrial, witnesses testified how Spector used to play Russian roulette with a loaded gun with women. In Clarkson’s case, luck was not on her side.
Spector has had a long history of being a gun-tooting maniac. In a recording session once with John Lennon, Spector fired a gun in the studio.
Famous for his production style dubbed The Wall of Sound, Spector still maintains he is innocent and that Clarkson committed suicide.
Lana Clarkson was working as a waitress at the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd when Spector met her in 2003.
He took her back to his mansion where she was shot to death in the foyer of the house.
One witness testified that Spector said, “I think I killed somebody”.
Spector has been in jail since April 13 when he was found guilty of murder and was awaiting today’s sentence.

Patti Smith Will Be the Mother-In-Law of Meg White
by Paul Cashmere - May 4 2009
In a few weeks Patti Smith will be Meg White`s mother-in-law.
The White Stripe drummer has announced that she is going to marry Jackson Smith, the son of rock icons Patti and the late Fred Smith, on May 22 in Nashville.
Jackson was the guitarist for Detroit band Back In Spades. His dad Fred was the guitarist for legendary punk band MC% and later performed in the Patti Smith Band.
Patti has been called the ‘Godmother of Punk’ although her greatest chart hit was nowhere near punk, it was a cover of the Bruce Springsteen song ‘Because The Night’.
Patti is also a recipient of the Ordre des Arts et des Letters by the French Minister of Culture, the equivalent of a knighthood in France.
34-year old Meg was previously married to White Stripes singer Jack White. They married in 1996 and divorced in 2000, but played a charade during those years that they were brother and sister, not husband and wife.
Meg met Jackson in 2007. They live together in Meg’s Detroit house.

Steven Tyler Book
Steven Tyler Writes A Book

Steven Tyler has compiled his life story in the book `Does The Noise In My Head Bother You`.
Tyler has documented his early days growing up in the Bronx, his early music career and influences, three decades of Aerosmith and his relationship with his four children, including actresses Liv and Mia Tyler.
Tyler decided to put in print all the sex, drugs and rock and roll from his life.
“This is not just my take, this is the unbridled truth, the in-your-face, up-close and prodigious tale of Steven Tyler straight from the horse’s lips,” he said in a statement.
Tyler will launch the book at BookExpo America in Norwalk, Connecticut on May 28.
(This will be a nice juicy book to own :)

Free Aerosmith Concert in Hawaii
Aerosmith to settle lawsuit with Maui performance
AP, Apr 27, 2009 6:00 am PDT
Free tickets to see Aerosmith in Hawaii? Dream on, unless you happen to be one of 8,300 people left in the cold when the band canceled a sold-out concert in 2007.Aerosmith has agreed to perform on Maui to settle a class-action lawsuit filed by fans who alleged the band pulled out of the show in favor of a larger concert in Chicago and a more lucrative private performance for Toyota dealers on Oahu.
The suit claimed the cancellation cost Maui ticket buyers between $500,000 and $3 million in travel costs, handling fees and other expenses.
"Everyone who bought a ticket to the original concert will receive a free ticket, and all out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed regardless of the amount," said Brandee Faria, an attorney representing the would-be concertgoers. The date for the new Maui concert has not been set, but Faria said it will likely be in September or October, after Aerosmith wraps up its North America tour.
Aerosmith attorney Jay Handlin said the band was glad to reach the settlement.
"The band is about the music," Handlin said. "So they are glad to be able to resolve this in a way that really focuses on connecting or reconnecting the people of Hawaii with the band and its music."

KoRn Crafting "Heavy Groove Riffs"
KoRn Crafting "Heavy Groove Riffs"
KoRn singer Jonathan Davis, bassist Fieldy, guitarist Munky and drummer Ray Luzier have been working together in Fieldy's basement studio in Laguna Hills, CA coming up with a bunch of material for a new record, as well as an album of cover songs. The group is working with original KoRn producer Ross Robinson, which is bringing them back to their roots. Fieldy told Billboard.com that working with Robinson "really brings out old school Korn. It's heavy riffs and we're trying to strip it down raw and get those heavy groove riffs that make you want to hop around or jump around or just go crazy. We're going towards that."
Fieldy added that "there's nothing lyrically put down yet," but Davis may bring a portable studio on the road when KoRn kicks off its tour with Avenged Sevenfold on Saturday in Tucson, so that he can begin laying down ideas. The album could be out by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, the band has also been practicing a diverse array of cover songs such as Nine Inch Nails' "Head Like A Hole," Faith No More's "We Care a Lot" and the Psychedelic Furs' "Love My Way." They will be part of the separate covers album, but it is uncertain when that project will be ready for release. For now, the band is just looking forward to getting back on the road.
"We're just going to take a little break now (from recording) and come back fresh," Fieldy told Billboard. "We've been home for over a year now. We really want to get out on stage. We put together a set of a lot of KoRn classic songs; I'm excited to play some of these songs we haven't played in years."
