‘Celebration Day’ for Led Zeppelin fans

Led Zeppelin reunites for its first headlining show in 27 years — a charity fund-raiser for the Ahmet Ertegun Foundation at London’s O2 Arena. More than 20 million people enter a lottery for tickets, but only 18,000 get them. For those lucky few it becomes “Celebration Day,” which is also the title of the new, long-delayed movie from that performance. It will first have premieres in London, New York, Berlin, and Tokyo, then a two-day debut at 1,500 cinemas in 43 countries on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by a multi-format Blu-ray and DVD release on Nov. 19.

At a recent screening in New York, I was struck by how powerfully and easily the band turned back the years. Fronted by Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones and backed by drummer Jason Bonham (son of Zeppelin’s original drummer, John), the group played two hours of Zep favorites from the opening “Good Times Bad Times” (the first song on their debut album) to all-time classic-rock hit “Stairway to Heaven.” They were framed against a high-tech, color-drenched LED screen that would have made U2 envious.

The Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Shows

The Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Shows

Are you ready to rock?  The Stones plan on doing shows at London's 02 Arena, same place Led Zeppelin did their re-union show on December 10, 2007.  The Stones plan on doing shows at the 02 on November 25th & the 29th, then go cross the Atlantic to do a pair of shows at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on December 13th & 15th.

General onsale for the Newark show will be on October 26th at noon ET via Ticketmaster.  Tix expected to be major pricey, ranging from $95 buck all the way to $750!  Rumor has it that Bill Wyman & Mick Taylor may guest at some points during the shows.

There will also be a broadcast Pay-Per-View Special of the final show of the run.
