Pink Floyd's Waters Open To Idea Of Reunion - Entertainment - Pink Floyd's Waters Open To Idea Of Reunion

LONDON -- Roger Waters would not immediately say no if Pink Floyd decided to do something more.

"I'd be very up for doing a lot more," Waters told Britain's X-FM.

Waters said reuniting with Pink Floyd for Live 8 was "such fun."

He said the moment they plugged in for their first rehearsal, "It was like putting on an old shoe."

The bassist apparently has had a change of heart since Live 8.

In July, right after Live 8, Waters called the chances of furthering the Pink Floyd reunion "very slight."

Enough with the teasin' already Roger, 1st he says no reunion, highly unlikely, now it's, well it would be nice, I wouldn't say no right away. So which is it? Oh yeah then it's Gilmours turn to chime in and tease, saying, oh I can't do a reunion now, I have a solo album to work on etc. So if it isn't Roger it's David...if only they could agree on things, the show would be on the road, cause Mason and Wright would be okay with it. Come on boys one last tour!

Punk, Metal Pioneers Honored

CBS News | Punk, Metal Pioneers Honored | November 28, 200512:00:07

(AP) Black Sabbath, Miles Davis and the Sex Pistols are among five musical legends to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation will hold its induction ceremony March 13 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Manhattan, the organization announced Monday.

Also to be inducted into the class of 2006: 1980s New Wave band Blondie and Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd.

It's finally Blondies turn to be recognized for what they contributed to the New Wave/Punk movement, glad they made it, should have been given to them earlier! I knew it would be Blondies turn when last year The Pretenders were given the nod.

Unearthed New Zep Photos!

When Led Zep rocked the Cross and no one noticed - Arts - Entertainment

RUMMAGING through some old boxes one day, Ted Harvey, a freelance photographer, found some photos he had almost forgotten: more than 100 intimate shots of Led Zeppelin he had taken during their 1972 Australian tour.

"It gave me a bit of a shock," Harvey said.

The photographs, which have never been seen by anyone except Harvey and the band, will go on display at a charity exhibition at Lismore Regional Gallery today.

Finding the photos brought back memories of the Sydney Showgrounds concert, which took place on February 27, 1972. Harvey simply drove his van behind the stage and walked around to the front, bypassing the crowd control barrier.

"There was officially 28,000 people there but really it was more like 36,000," said Harvey, adding that he could not see any other press photographers around him.

"When they played The Immigrant Song, the crowd just jumped over the barrier and ran to the stage. I got stuck and I couldn't move around. Robert Plant just told the crowd to sit down and they did, but I stood up because I was there to take photos."

The next day, Harvey visited the band at their Elizabeth Bay hotel to give them some of the shots he'd taken.

"Then Robert said, 'Let's go for a walk', so we wandered out to the Cross and he started singing at the top of his voice. I thought, 'Oh no, people are going to notice', but no one really turned around. That's the Cross for you," said Harvey.

"There was an old dumped Plymouth car that had a Viking's head as its emblem. Robert whipped out his pocket knife and tried to get the head off. I thought 'Oh jeez, the police are going to come over and see these two long-haired guys attacking this car. But he couldn't get it off so he said 'I'll get the chauffeur to come down and get it off'."

Lismore Regional Gallery's director, Steven Alderton, said he was impressed by the artistic and historical merit of the photographs.

"Compositionally they are great images and they hold the presence of the moment," he said. "Although my first thought was certain people should buy jeans a few sizes bigger."

Now if only they can make some of those just discovered images of Zeppelin posters!! Nothing would please more than that :) for us long time Zep fans.

The original 1923 Hollywood sign is up for sale on internet auction site eBay after languishing in storage since 1978.

Bidders lusting after the iconic symbol will need at least $300,000 (GBP174,000) to meet the reserve price, as well as considerable space - the letters stand 13.7 metres (45 feet) high and 137 metres (450 feet) long.

The movie industry trademark boasts graffiti from rock stars LED ZEPPELIN, PINK FLOYD and AEROSMITH, as well as a macabre side - struggling actress PEG ENTWISTLE threw herself off the letter H in 1932.

Current owner producer DAN BLISS says, "This will be your last chance to own one of the world's most famous structures.

"Telling people you own the Hollywood sign is a great ice-breaker."

Yeah, if I could just find some space in my back yard to display this iconic sign :) heheheee.

OZZYHEAD.COM NEWS - Black Sabbath To Be Inducted Into (US) Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

OZZYHEAD.COM NEWS - Black Sabbath To Be Inducted Into (US) Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Black Sabbath To Be Inducted Into (US) Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
According to Tony Iommi's official site (, Black Sabbath will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at the Twenty-First Annual Induction Ceremony in New York next March. There are plans to broadcast an edited version of the ceremony on VH-1.

Ozzy Osbourne attempted to take Black Sabbath's name off the Hall of Fame's 1999 nomination list, deeming the institution's nod "meaningless."

In an October 1999 letter to the Hall of Fame, Osbourne said: "Just take our name off the list. Save the ink. Forget about us. The nomination is meaningless, because it's not voted on by the fans. It's voted on by the supposed elite for the industry and the Media, who've never bought an album or concert ticket in their lives, so their vote is irrelevant to me." He says, "Let's face it, BLACK SABBATH has never been media darlings. We're a people's band and that suits us just fine."

Black Sabbath became eligible for induction for in 1996.

I agree with Ozzy, Sabbath was a people's band same as Zeppelin was.

All the artists taking part were championed or admired by Peel during his career.

He has pretty good taste I would say...Plant, Daltrey, Gilmour and others.

History Lokta Paper

Today the versatility of the paper is vastly explored and it has found an exclusive niche in global markets.

he history of Lokta paper dates back to several centuries. Grown in the high Himalayas, Lokta or Daphne Cannabis is a shrub that regenerates itself. Used for its fibrous quality, paper is made from lokta for its durability and versatility.

According to various ancient documents, it is believed that in the 8th century Lokta papers were traded to the Buddhist monks to write their scriptures. But when the trade with Tibet ceased, all the Lokta craftsmen entered the valley to keep the tradition of this “Kagaz” alive. Nepali paper making is an ancient practice that has survived time and evolved into a thriving handicraft business.

The paper itself is very special with a feeling of timelessness. Earlier and till today the paper has found its prime use in government offices for all official documents, certificates, files and invitation cards. Today the versatility of the paper is vastly explored and it has found an exclusive niche in global markets. It is used for gift wrapping, packaging, customised stationery, wall papers, lamp shades and even clothing.

Thousands of villagers in the mountains have found a living through the collection of Lokta which is then processed through specialised small scale industries into various types of paper. From fine tissue to the thicker variety, Nepali paper can be found in different textures and hues. Products made from the paper are accessorised with beads, dried flowers, straw and various types of grass by skilled artisans. The paper has gained extensive popularity over the years and today one can also find sheets that can go through a computer printer.

Pure Lokta paper is more in demand than recycled paper for its sheer durability and exclusiveness. Papers and paper products can be purchased from shops in Thamel, Kupondole and various specialised showrooms across the capital.

Where to buy:
Hastakala, Mahaguthi and
Barefoot in Kupondole

Pink Floyd @ British Awards

Pink Floyd, famous for albums "Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Wall", were inducted after they reunited for July's Live 8 concert in London.

Singer and bassist Roger Waters said: "The response we have had from the public has been very touching, not least when we were all together on that day in July this year. It was great to be together again."

Aha, but apparently not THAT great to want to tour just a wee bit, eh Rog? It's all David Gilmour's fault, he said "We're too old to tour" but bands like the Stones keep on keeping on.

Ozzy shows dark side of his moon

Ozzy Osbourne shows dark side of his moon at British awards - Yahoo! News

Wildman rocker Ozzy Osbourne stunned fans at the British Music Hall of Fame by flashing his bottom at startled onlookers in the hope of livening things up a bit.
The star was performing with his heavy metal band Black Sabbath to mark their induction.

Pink Floyd, The Who, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks, Eurythmics, Aretha Franklin and Joy Division/New Order were also inducted.

Seeking to inject a bit of rock-and-roll mayhem, Osbourne told the assembled guests: "I've seen more life at a f---ing wake", before dropping his jeans and mooning the crowd.

The trick worked and guests at north London's Alexandra Palace -- including Osbourne's wife Sharon and children Jack and Kelly -- gave him a standing ovation.

Afterwards he reflected: "I thought they needed livening up a bit. That was a lot of fun."

Leave it to Ozzy to Moon the crowd, LOL!!

First Dig - Robert Plant

Operation Covert - First Dig - Robert Plant

ROCK legend, Robert Plant, took time out from his world tour to get behind the controls of a mechanical digger to start the building of the new Scout facilities made possible by Operation Covert.

The frontman of legendary band, Led Zeppelin, took centre stage and ceremonially dug the first trench of the project at the Rhydd Covert site where construction begins on Monday.

The 57-year-old, who is currently in the middle of a global tour promoting his latest album, The Mighty Rearranger, was keen to lend a hand because he believed the project was "very important".

Oh he looks so cute in that mini tractor/digger. I bet Bonzo would have loved doing that too. Check out the pictures of Robert digging the trench.

The Dark Side of the Moon: The Making of Pink Floyd's Masterpiece

CANOE -- JAM! Books - Reviews - - The Dark Side of the Moon: The Making of Pink Floyd's Masterpiece

It's likely that you, someone you know, or at the very least a high school or college buddy has owned a copy of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon.

With 30 million copies in print - roughly one for every person living in California - the 1973 album long ago reached iconic status.

In his book, The Dark Side of the Moon: The Making of Pink Floyd's Masterpiece, John Harris takes a deeper look at how Pink Floyd successfully shifted gears from its psychedelic 1960s beginning to create its most famous album.

Another good Christmas present for the Floyd fan :)

Patti Smith Does Mini Tour

To mark the 30th anniversary of the milestone recording, Horses, Patti Smith and her long-time collaborator, guitarist Lenny Kaye, have embarked on a short tour. During a stop on Monday (11/14) at San Francisco's gorgeous Great American Music Hall, the duo firmly reminded a capacity crowd (which, really, didn't need reminding) why "Horses" is rightfully considered one of the greatest debuts of all time.

In other related news, Arista/Columbia/Legacy Recordings released a two-disc special edition of Smith's debut earlier this month. The set, entitled "Horses/Horses," features a remastered version of the original album, as well as a live performance of the complete work that was recorded earlier this year at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Smith and Kaye will next perform tonight (11/15) in Los Angeles, before joining the rest of the Patti Smith Group to open two nights (11/21-22) for U2 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Stones Too LOUD

The Rolling Stones received noise complaints from their recent gigs in San Francisco. People living near the venue complained of windows and floors vibrating, reports the BBC. One resident complained, "Just because they're too old to hear their music doesn't mean [it] has to be so loud." The next tour stop for the Stones is Las Vegas on Friday (November 18).

Ooh what zing "just cause they're too old to hear, they don't need to crank up the sound" LOL. He just was mad that he didn't get to go to the concert that's all. :)

My Chemical Romance All Dolled Up

My Chemical Romance will be releasing action figures with such accessories as a red handgun and a coffin. "They're very realistic. We're wearing suits and we've got elbow joints. They're really poseable and rad," frontman Gerard Way told "You can make them do things like shake violently or save a cat from a tree." The action figures will be released next month, just in time for Christmas shopping.

How cute, I want Gerard :) Stocking stuffer maybe?

Page Wins Poll

Poll Results Classic Rock Guitarists

Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) is the clear favorite in the voting for your favorite Classic Rock guitarist. Page received 33% of just over 200 votes, followed by the late Jimi Hendrix with 25% and Eric Clapton with 20%. Others receiving more than one vote included the late Duane Allman, Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple/Rainbow), Ted Nugent, Gary Richrath (REO Speedwagon) and the late Paul Kossoff (Free).

What no David Gilmour?? No mention?? Of course Page is my favorite of all guitarist so I'm happy that the public agrees with that, but no mention of Gilmour, come on mean to tell me Gilmours solos do nothing for you?? For homework you need to hear Comfortably Numb.

Stones Get A Bigger Bang

The Rolling Stones' new album A Bigger Bang will become even bigger on November 22 when Virgin Records releases an expanded special edition of the CD. A Bigger Bang (Special Edition) will come with a bonus DVD including lots of goodies, such as television performances of "Streets Of Love" and "Rough Justice" recorded in Toronto, the video for "Streets Of Love" with director's commentary by Jake Nava, and two new audio tracks, "Don't Wanna Go Home" and "Under the Radar," both written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards during the A Bigger Bang sessions. The DVD also will feature interviews with each band member, lyrics and a photo gallery. Meanwhile, the previously announced Rolling Stones collection Rarities: 1971 - 2003 will also be released on November 22.

Aaah just in time for Christmas...Santa can I get a bigger bang I've been a good girl. If only Led Zeppelin had something fresh to offer me for Christmas...aah but at least and I'm hoping Pink Floyd will have PULSE :) that's what I really want for Christmas.

The Black Crowes Rockin' New Year's Eve

The Black Crowes Announce Their First-Ever Headlining Performance At Madison Square Garden On New Year's Eve

2005 marked the year in which THE BLACK CROWES reunited and re-connected with their loyal fans, performing the best shows of their career. The band--who've been alternately described as "The Most Rock ‘N Roll Rock ‘N Roll Band In The World" and "a thoroughbred American rock ‘n' freakin' roll band"--will culminate this hugely successful year on December 31, 2005 with their first-ever New Year's Eve show at Madison Square Garden in the city where it all began back in March with seven sold-out nights at Hammerstein Ballroom.

One thing I can tell you about the Black Crowes is that they are LOUD and no one sits down at a Crowes show!!!

Black lights are perfect for parties

Black lights are perfect for parties

There are a number of other unique uses of the black light. The first is to cause a reaction to a poster or other printed material that is fluorescent. A fluorescent object will continue to glow as long as the black light is on and placed near the object.

Nothing like a cool room with black lights and interesting black light posters hanging on them. Another cool thing to do is take fluorescent paint and paint some cool objects so they glow under the light. we have an incense burner that has the fluorescent painted on to it's surface and it's waaay cool under the lights.

Audioslave On Rockline

Audioslave will be the featured guests on Rockline's nationally syndicated radio show airing November 14th. The live show begins at 8:30pm PT / 11:30pm ET - and fans are encouraged to call in with questions during the program at (800) 344-ROCK (7625).

To find a station near you check out

I wonder if fans like Chris Cornell with Audioslave as much as they liked him with Soundgarden. There's something about his voice in Soundgarden that to me seemed like he had more power, what a voice! Glad that Audioslave is doing some Soundgarden songs as well at shows :)

Heavy Metal Chic Rocks South Beach Miami

South Beach Rocks: Restaurant, Bars, and Clubs on

November 4, 2005—Though better known as home of the DJ-infested Winter Music Conference and, of course, the eponymous Sound Machine, Miami is starting to discover good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll—aesthetically, anyway. The latest evidence, after Tommy Lee’s Rok Bar and Automatic Slims, is Snatch, a bilevel lounge that just opened in the legendary Liquid space in South Beach. Befitting the salacious name, the main room, above, looks like Philippe Starck’s take on a Whitesnake video (Tawny Kitaen not included—though there is lingerie dangling from the chandeliers). Two enormous mirrors etched with images of Jim Morrison and Axl Rose dominate the walls, and by the entrance you'll find a very non-Miami mechanical bull. Bathrooms are adorned with vintage concert posters and autographed pictures of classic axemen. Come January, a large upstairs dance floor should be open, but until then, stick with the lounge for the Saturday night party organized by E-Z, the team behind Friday nights at the Townhouse. Groupies optional.

P.S. If you’re looking to spot an actual rock star rather than his likeness, head north to the Chamber Lounge for a classic dive packed with off-duty South Beach scenesters. Stashed in the basement of what was once a hotel, it’s got a killer jukebox, strong cheap drinks, and a well-worn pool table.
Snatch Rock 'n' Roll Bar & Lounge, 1437 Washington Ave., South Beach, (305) 604-3644,; Chamber Lounge, 2940 Collins Ave., Middle Beach, (305) 673-0338.

Goth Deco Tips

Dark decorating tips are dripping with ideas for the home

Dark decorating tips are dripping with ideas for the home
Monday, October 31, 2005

"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."

-- Voltaire

"At the end of the day, if in doubt, paint it black and slap a skull on it."

-- Voltaire

One of the Voltaires quoted above was an 18th-century writer/philosopher and the other is a modern-day artist giving tips on gothic homemaking. Sure, they're a zillion miles apart, but both are very relevant to today's world.

Enter "Paint It Black -- A Guide to Gothic Homemaking" ($15.95,Weiser Books, 102 pages), a trifle of a book released in August taking you through the necessary steps to turn your beige pad into a den of darkness and gloom (don't blame us if your landlord has a hissy fit once you've painted your place red). Among the best tips in the book is using cool drawers from old, discarded desks and vanities as shelving. Here's how that works: Voltaire recommends that you scavenge or scout for drawers from old, turfed furniture. Paint the outside black, the inside red, hang it on the wall and, voila!, you have a place to store your books, figurines, whatever. A whole wall full of mismatched drawers might look pretty cool.

Another easy-to-follow tip: bang some nails into a plain, wooden picture frame and spray paint the whole thing black. Now splatter some red paint on it and you have the Hell Raiser frame. Hardly stuff Martha Stewart would love ... although, there's a gothic Martha Stewart site ( ... who knew? Other, more refined designs are included, we just like the simple stuff.

Pretty much all bases are covered, including pimping your car, goth style, or, as the author puts it, "Would it kill you to have a vehicle to jump into that's at least half as pompous as you are?" If your answer to that is no, consider the following: Buy a black car (nothing too cutesy, like a VW Beetle), add goth band or anti-social bumper stickers (you can buy those at, ahem, Hot Topic) and vinyl spider web or goth decals. Integrate some bats, skulls and coffins for your inner decor -- hanging them off your rearview mirror, covering your steering wheel, etc. and you're pretty much there. You can go all the way and drive a hearse, but that's extreme and brutal for parallel parking in the city.

There also are instructions for flower arranging, cake decorating (?!?!), wall coverings and much more.

P-I reporter D. Parvaz can be reached at 206-448-8095 or

I like the idea of a Goth car, I have a black Explorer, though mine has a Led Zeppelin sticker. Easy to transform it though, :) just add a Marilyn Manson sticker and the other Goth accessories and voila!

Jimmy Page at White Stripes show

NME.COM - News - Led Zeppelin legend turns up at White Stripes show

Page made a surprise appearance at the White Stripes 2nd Hammersmith Apollo show (Nov 6). Jack White is often compared with Page, was spotted watching the show from the side of the stage throughout the 90 minute set.

Unfortunately hopes of a duet failed to materialise because that's as close to the stage that Jimmy Page got.

Well, could be Jimmy just wanted to sit and watch or maybe he just isn't up to playing on stage anymore, maybe he thought he would steal the show and leave Jack White in the dust ;) who knows, but it sure would've been a treat for White to play beside a rock guitar legend.

In need of a Jimmy Page Tee take a look in our Zep Closet!

Zeppelin share Polar Music Prize

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Zeppelin share Polar Music Prize

Zeppelin and Russian conductor Valery Gergiev were named winners of the Polar Music Prize.

The academy said Led Zeppelin were "one of the great pioneers of rock".

Led Zeppelin split in 1980 following the death of drummer John Bonham, reuniting briefly for the Live Aid concert in 1985.

The surviving members - Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones - continue to perform.

Kuddos to Zeppelin. Mostly Robert Plant continues to perform LIVE. Sure wish Page and Jones were as active (tour wise) as Plant IS.

The Who - "Tommy & Quadraphenia Live"

The Who - "Tommy and Quadraphenia Live"

The Who were pioneers of the rock opera, and their stage shows defined the concept of "power trio." The best of both are combined in the three-DVD set, The Who: Tommy and Quadraphenia Live With Special Guests, due for release November 8 from Rhino Records.

The third disc is a compilation of live performances of Who hits like "I Can See For Miles," "Baba O’Riley," "Won’t Get Fooled Again" and "Who Are You".

Design Disturbed's Website

Disturbed has added a second leg of the Jagermeister Music Tour, and it will kick off the first week in January. Bloodsimple will open the next series of dates, taking over for C.O.C. Meanwhile, Disturbed is having a contest to see who can create the best fan site for the band. The winning site will become the "official Disturbed fan site" and will be linked on the band's regular Web site. The winning artist will also receive an autographed Washburn guitar from the band.

Imagine, you get a free autographed guitar, get linked to their official site and your fan site becomes the Official Site, what could be cooler than that!!

I find these shows (American) utterly boring most of the time, maybe the UK's will be livelier. Hmm wonder if Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath will perform?

A Beastie Boys Film & Disc

Beasties Ready Fan-Filmed Concert Flick, Best-Of Disc

November 2, 2005

Beastie Boys

A Beastie Boys concert film, titled Awesome: I F---in' Shot That, has been picked up by independent film distributor ThinkFilm, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film was shot at the Rap trio's Madison Square Garden show in October of 2004, mainly by 50 fans with handheld cameras. A few friends of the band and two of the tour's high-quality cameras were also used to capture the concert, which was then assembled by Adam "MCA" Yauch and directed by his alter ego, Swiss video director Nathaniel Hornblower. The film has been submitted to the Sundance Festival, and will likely see a spring release.

"Preproduction was like three days," Yauch told the Hollywood Reporter. "Some kid put up video from his phone at eight frames a second," he said, and that inspired his low-res video/high-quality audio vision. None of the 50 cameras were lost to fans, Yauch said, "but granted, we took their driver's licenses."

In other Beasties news, they will release a one-disc "best-of" set, entitled Solid Gold Hits, next Tuesday, November 8.

Shot by fans, so you can technically say it's almost a bootleg :) should be exciting to watch.
