Robert Plant Previews Upcoming Band of Joy Album

Robert Plant Previews Upcoming Band of Joy Album

Last night, Robert Plant dropped in at a dimly lit bar in the East Village near the end of a listening session for his newest album, Band of Joy, and for a few brief moments, admitted he didn't know what to talk about. "Should I tell you about the Butter Queen and the Plaster Casters in Chicago?" he said, referencing some of the most famous groupies in rock history. "That's not quite as relevant now as back then — and penicillin is easily available now."

Holding a microphone in front of a small crowd at New York's Back Room, the Led Zeppelin frontman quickly changed the subject to the new disc, due September 14th on Rounder Records. Band of Joy follows the intimate, moody vibe of his Grammy-winning collaboration with Alison Krauss, Raising Sand, but the songs are more powerful, like the blazing spiritual classic "Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down" and a hard-driving take on "Harm's Swift Way," a rare Townes Van Zandt track.

Read more here.

(I love Robert Plant's last comment in this interview: "I'm touring without a record. In this day and age, the Eagles can't even do that." Is he cool or what!! :)

The Genesis Of Freemasonry by David Harrison - Unearthed Roots

'The Genesis Of Freemasonry'
by David Harrison

The Genesis Of Freemasonry looks at the more magical origins of Freemasonry, and discusses the Arthurian legend and the symbolism embedded in the 'cycle' - some of which filtered into Freemasonry and Rosicrucianism.

This book is a revealing but thoroughly enjoyable journey through the intricate history of English Freemasonry. Historian Dr David Harrison reconstructs the hidden history of the movement, tracing its roots through a mixture of mediaeval guild societies, alchemy and necromancy. He examines the earliest known Freemasons and their obsessions with Solomon’s Temple, alchemy and prophecy to the formation of the Grand Lodge in London, which in turn led to rebellions within the Craft throughout England, especially in York and with the formation of the ‘antients’. Harrison also analyses the role of French immigrant Dr Jean Theophilus Desaguliers in the development of English Freemasonry, focussing on his involvement with the formation of the mysterious modern Masonic ritual.

(If you haven't picked up a copy of this exciting book by David Harrison I whole heartedly recommend you pick one up today! It's truly a facinating look behind the scenes of Freemasonry, a view behind the veil if you will. It's a well researched, written book with amazing photos. Available at all good book stores & online.)

Jim Morrison House on Love Street For Sale

Jim Morrison House on Love Street For Sale

The house that Doors frontman Jim Morrison once lived in with longtime love Pamela Courson is being sold for $1.19 million. On Laurel Canyon, the house was the original inspiration for the song "Love Street" and comes complete with custom-designed furniture, outdoor patios and fire pits, and an outdoor shower - perfect for entertaining all your closest hippy-rocker friends. There's another shower of note in this house: the famed "secret shower" where Jim wrote lyrics and poetry on the bathroom walls.

To view pics of the house and all the rooms go here.

To keep up to date with all things Doors head on down to The Doors Examiner - Jim Cherry is an excellent writer & keeps Doors fans posted with articles filled with info, videos and pics - a multi media experience, subscribe today!

I would love to live there, but I'm all the way in New England & just can't swing it. The vibes in that house I bet are still very strong. Wonder if someone will buy it and want to turn it into a Morrison museum.

Jimmy Page @ Mojo Awards/Back in Studio (New Music)

Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page celebrated at Mojo Awards

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has been inducted into the Mojo Hall Of Fame at the magazine's award ceremony.

Singer Richard Hawley won the best album prize, while Kasabian's single Fire was named song of the year.

But Florence and the Machine, who led the field with four nominations before the London event, was overlooked.

Page, who last won a Mojo award for the 2007 Led Zeppelin reunion, revealed he was working on new material with a number of different projects.

He has been taken on by Robbie Williams' management company IE.

"I'm just looking forward to making some music and surprising people with it," he said.

"It won't be just teaming up with lots of people who are [big] names. I've got an idea of something which I've had for a long time and now's the time to do it."

Mojo is now the best-selling music magazine in the UK, selling more than twice as many copies as NME.

Jimmy Page Working On New Music Led Zeppelin star back in the studio

Former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has revealed that he is working on new material.

They might not be touring together, but Led Zeppelin are back. The past two years have seen the remaining band members indulge in a flurry of activity, with all three musicians working on new project.

Singer Robert Plant received a Grammy nomination for his work with alt country goddess Alison Krauss. The pair are working on new material, with former Led Zeppelin cohort John Paul Jones part of a new supergroup.

Playing bass in Them Crooked Vultures, John Paul Jones is working on a second album with the group. Drummer Jason Bonham will head a tribute tour to his iconic father, and now Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has revealed that he is writing new material - with some well known names.

"I'm just looking forward to making some music and surprising people with it," he told BBC 6Music.

"It won't be just teaming up with lots of people who are (big) names. I've got an idea of something which I've had for a long time and now's the time to do it."

Jimmy Page was a notable fan of the Led Zeppelin re-union, and led searches to find a potential replacement for Robert Plant.

Continuing, the guitarist revealed that new material could be ready for release by the end of the year. Working with IE Management, Jimmy Page claimed that fans would be surprised by his new direction.

"I have got other ideas that have been nagging at me for a long long time, I think the way to present music is same picture different frame, and sometimes this frame is quite radical," he said.

Jimmy Page is set to release new material later this year.

(Now what kind of surprises does Page have for us fans do you think? Seems that if it's radical, a departure of what we know Jimmy for, blues, rock n roll, bit of folk, country, even raggae, could it be he's going more jazzy? I think it's safe to say all Page fans/Zep fans want anything from him at this point. Yeah surprise us Jimmy by actually getting it done this time, surprise us by years end, surprise us by making it really happen...we will all line up and buy it!!! :)

Aerosmith Tour w/ Sammy Hagar

Aerosmith To Tour With Sammy Hagar

by Paul Cashmere - June 2 2010

Aerosmith will head back out across the USA in July and take Sammy Hagar along for part of the ride.

After a touch and go existence earlier this year when Steven Tyler announced he had quit the band, only to return in less time than it takes to say “spinal tap”, Aerosmith are preparing to take on a series run across North America.

"I thought it was time to get my mojo back, by rockin South America and Europe with a little home run at Boston's Fenway Park thrown in and then off to the rest of America to do what we do best! We're gonna rock you into the middle of next week," Tyler said in a statement.

Everyone in the band appears to be cranked up over the tour. “This is a perfect time for us to tour North America as we are just completing a very successful tour of South America. We are looking forward to our European tour next month and then bringing our show back to our home soil. We are running on all cylinders and are "Cocked Locked and ready to Rock!" commented Joe Perry.
"We're having a blast tearing up South America. I can't stop thinking about how great it's going to feel bringing it home this summer," said Tom Hamilton.
"The band's tighter than ever, America we're coming to rock your World," said Joey Kramer.

Sammy Hagar and the Wabos will open for 11 of the 16 shows.
