Guns N' Roses New Guitarist

Guns N' Roses announced the addition of guitarist DJ Ashba, a founding member of Nikki Sixx’s Sixx:A.M., for their upcoming touring lineup. "DJ's a gifted, energetic guitarist that Guns N’ Roses is proud to have on board," Axl Rose said in a statement. "We're very excited to have the opportunity to work together. Guns' radar has silently been aware of DJ’s presence for quite some time! He brings a fresh approach to our particular brand of mayhem expanding the tapestry of Guns N' Roses live. Once DJ’s name was in the hat, the hat disappeared!" Ashba is replacing Robin Finck, who rejoined Nine Inch Nails after recording Chinese Democracy with GN’R. Details of when this "upcoming tour" will happen still remain to be seen.

Zep Star Campaign

Campaign To Get LED ZEPPELIN Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame Continues
Posted on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 16:29:32 EST

On March 10th, the LED ZEPPELIN Star Campaign Petition to get a Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame reached their 1000 signature goal. The petition has been sent to guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant and bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones with a request to reconsider endorsing the drive.

According to organizer Rocky Dickerson, "in October of 2008 Jimmy Page had notified me through his representative that he could not endorse the campaign. I am hoping if the band reviews the many positive comments of support in the petition, they may have second thoughts, or at least, contact me with any questions or concerns they may have. Since it appears unlikely Zeppelin will reunite or tour again, I was looking at this effort as a final way all the fans could say "thank you" for all the joy and timeless music Led Zeppelin gave to us throughout the years.

JIMI HENDRIX, THE DOORS and THE BEATLES are but a few of the rock icons who have a star on the Walk of Fame. I feel it's time to honor Led Zeppelin with one. Jimmy Page was the first to be immortalized on the British Walk of Fame a few years ago and Zeppelin's many American fans would like to extend a similar honor on US shores."

New Morrison Painting Unearthed

A lost painting commissioned by THE DOORS star JIM MORRISON just before his death has been turned into a new must-have poster for his fans.
Artist T.E. Breitenbach created The Morrison Triptych at the request of the rock legend during the winter of 1970/71 - months before the singer/poet's death in Paris, France.

Morrison planned to use the piece as the cover of an album of poetry - but he died without telling anyone of his wishes, and Breitenbach's creation became a forgotten piece of rock art.

Now, the editors of fanzine Strange Days Newsletter have unearthed the painting and correspondence between the artist and Morrison.
A spokesman says, "T.E. Breitenbach had previously sent a letter to The Doors' office telling them how he admired their music and Morrison's lyrics. In the letter, Breitenbach offered to paint an album cover for Jim or The Doors.

"Morrison immediately replied and sent his ideas for the painting, along with two autographed, private editions of his poetry."

After Breitenbach finished the painting, Morrison was very pleased and asked if he could use it on the cover of his poetry album that he was currently working on. The deal was set but Jim passed away in Paris on July 3rd, 1971 before his album was complete. In 1978, the producers of the An American Prayer album didn't know of Jim's ideas for the Triptych cover, so it was never used.

Strange Days editors have been given permission to offer a limited edition poster set of the painting to fans, who will also receive a copy of Morrison's letter to Breitenbach, describing his ideas for the project.
The insider tells WENN, "It's very interesting reading."

(Would love to see this artwork of Jim and hope they can use it for something Doors or Jim related in the future.)

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr To Perform Together

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr To Perform Together

by Paul Cashmere - March 8 2009

Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will share a stage for the first time since 2002 when they perform at Radio City Music Hall in New York on April 4.

The show is the ‘Charity Begins Within; benefit to raise funds to teach one million children how to mediate.

Starr and McCartney learned mediation under the guidance of Guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in India in the 60s.

“In moments of madness, Transcendental Meditation has helped me find moments of serenity,” Paul said in a statement. He added that he supports the work of the David Lynch Foundation to bring Transcendental Meditation to one million children for the same reason. “I would like to think that it would help provide them a quiet haven in a not-so-quiet world.”

Ringo Starr expressed his personal satisfaction to be performing at the concert: “It gives me great pleasure to be part of this evening. I feel the aims of this charity are wonderful!”

The show will also feature Eddie Vedder, Sheryl Crow, Donovan, Ben Harper, Moby and Bettye LaVette. Undercover hears that Bettye may be called upon to sing Let It Be with the Beatle legends.

Tickets for the show will go on sale on Monday (March 9)

(Awesome to see part of the Beatles perform together again for a nice cause. I'm sure George and John will be looking down and smiling.)

The Beatles

First announced last year, The Beatles' own version of the hugely popular Rock Band video game series now has a release date and an official website. The Beatles: Rock Band will be released worldwide on September 9, 2009 (or 9/9/09), which one can assume is a direct reference to "Revolution #9."

The game is also the first time the Fab Four's music will be released in a digital format and is expected to be the next step in the long-awaited journey to the release of the Beatles catalog on iTunes and other online digital retailers.

The Beatles: Rock Band will be released as a stand alone game with guitars or with all instruments, and will be compatible with all other Rock Band hardware. The game will be released simultaneously for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii. A limited edition bundle will include new electronic instruments modelled after the Beatles' own guitars and drums.

An official website,, has launched as well. Those who pre-order the game in advance are promised exclusive extra content. The game has the blessing of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison and it is being overseen by Love co-producer Giles Martin.
