Phil Spector Jailed For 19-Years

Phil Spector Jailed For 19-Years

by Paul Cashmere - May 30 2009

Once legendary producer Phil Spector will now be known for the rest of his life as Phil Spector, murderer. Spector will spend the next 19 years in jail for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson.

Spector murdered 40-year old Clarkson at his home in Alhambra, California on February 3, 2003.

He was originally charged with murder and went to court but the first case was dismissed because of a hung jury.

In this case, the retrial, witnesses testified how Spector used to play Russian roulette with a loaded gun with women. In Clarkson’s case, luck was not on her side.

Spector has had a long history of being a gun-tooting maniac. In a recording session once with John Lennon, Spector fired a gun in the studio.

Famous for his production style dubbed The Wall of Sound, Spector still maintains he is innocent and that Clarkson committed suicide.

Lana Clarkson was working as a waitress at the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd when Spector met her in 2003.

He took her back to his mansion where she was shot to death in the foyer of the house.

One witness testified that Spector said, “I think I killed somebody”.

Spector has been in jail since April 13 when he was found guilty of murder and was awaiting today’s sentence.

Possible Creed CD in August

Creed Hoping For CD Release In August

After officially announcing their reunion in April, Creed is hoping to have a new album ready for an August release date. The effort is tentatively called Full Circle, and the group plans to record in Nashville with producer Howard Benson. Creed is just about ready to go into pre-production on the album, before their 10-week tour kicks off August 6 in Pittsburgh.

"We're excited to share (the new music) with our fans, and we really have a lot we want to prove," singer Scott Stapp told He says that Creed has "13, 14 songs that we would consider as album keepers... We've written more than that, but we've got this many that are fighting for a spot on the record. So we're in a good place."

When it comes to lyrical content, Stapp says there is a lot of reflection in the new material, focusing on reconnecting with his bandmates. "It's not a hopeless, complaining record," he explained. "It's telling stories, but it's also rocking out. We're rocking harder now with some of the songs than we ever have. It's from a different place and a different type of reflection and a different level of maturity, but we're a rock band, so there's still that brashness. There's a confidence and a swagger that I think we only feel collectively. Our music is fresh and still very connected to who we are and the sound we have, but it's also taken a natural evolution."

As for the reunion tour, Stapp added, "We're working on putting on the biggest rock show we've ever done. We're all better performers and entertainers now, and real confident in the songs. We're really excited to present where we are today and just be able to stand up and feel that we're relevant now as a band."

Madonna Getting Married to Jesus?

Madonna To Marry Jesus?

According to reports out of the UK today, Madonna is going to marry for a third time.

Madonna and Jesus Luz are getting married.

The Brazilian model's father Luis Heitor Pinto da Luz has revealed the couple are planning a Kabbalah ceremony to have their union recognised by the mystical Jewish faith followed by the 50-year-old singer.

However, their union will not be legally binding.

Luis said: "The Kabbalah ceremony in New York that will link up my son Jesus Luz and Madonna only confirms that he is extremely happy.

"I don't know if there will, in fact, be a real marriage between Madonna and my son. It will be a type of ritual, but I do not know Kabbalah or if the ceremony will have legal validity."

Luis - who confirmed the couple are living together in New York - revealed his 22-year-old son has bonded well with the 'Hung Up' star's three children, Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight and David, three.

He added to Brazil's Quem magazine: "She has small children, and Jesus helps her out with various tasks involving all of them. He plays ball with the kids. Jesus has charisma and loves children."

Despite the 28-year age gap between Madonna and Jesus, Luis insists he approves of their relationship.

He said: "I've spoken by phone with Madonna - in French, because my English is not fluent - and she appears to me to be a normal and polite person. She is feminine. I don't feel she is a harsh person."

Madonna announced last October she was divorcing British film director Guy Ritchie after almost eight years of marriage.

Aerosmith Album Heading to Walmart

Aerosmith New Album Heading to Walmart
Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry may have let is slip that the band's next album will be released exclusively at Walmart, a la AC/DC's Black Ice. The CD has been delayed several times as Perry underwent knee surgery and singer Steven Tyler contracted pneumonia, and when asked about the delays by Entertainment Weekly, Perry said, "This is about the third time I’ve had to make excuses why the record isn’t out. You line everything up just right: Brendan O’Brien producing, Walmart and Sony screaming for the record, tour coming up, and there’s no record. We’re still in shock that it’s not happening." Meanwhile, the band is getting ready for its summer tour with ZZ Top, and Perry said Aerosmith will play one of its albums in its entirety... but he wouldn't say which one. "We’re going to pick an album and do it from front to back," he told EW. "Even though we do bits and pieces from all the albums, to me, there’s kind of a vibe that happens when you hear an album from beginning to end."

(I agree with Perry about the vibe thing when you play an album instead of songs here and there. Some albums are meant to be heard that way to get the most from them too. Dark Side

Queen n Paul Rodgers Is Over

Queen + Paul Rodgers Is Over

by Paul Cashmere

Queen + Paul Rodgers is no more. The collaboration between Queen`s Brian May and Roger Taylor and Free/Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers has grounded to a halt.

Rodgers confirmed the decision to stop the act in an interview on VH1.

While his official word for the band is “done” he does not rule of the occasional special occasion performance. "It's out there for us to do things in the future if there's something - a huge charity say like Nelson Mandela - but I think we are pretty much done," he said.

Rodgers will concentrate on the Bad Company reunion in June and July. The band, featuring Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke, will tour the US.

Queen + Paul Rodgers released their one and only album ‘The Cosmos Rocks’ in 2008. It was the first official Queen album since ‘Made In Heaven’

‘The Cosmos Rocks’ was a disaster. The fans hated it and avoided it. It was not the band’s finest moment.

Rodgers first got together with Queen in 2004 when he joined Brian May on stage and performed by his songs and theirs.

The first official public performance was on March 2005 for the Nelson Mandela 4664 concert.

(Well that didn't last long. I don't think anyone could really take the place of Freddie Mercury, so I'm glad Paul Rodgers is back with Bad Company.)

Synopsis of 'The Genesis of Freemasonry - David Harrison

Here's a synopsis of the book:

This book is a revealing but thoroughly enjoyable journey through the intricate history of English Freemasonry. Historian Dr David Harrison reconstructs the hidden history of the movement, tracing its roots through a mixture of mediaeval guild societies, alchemy and necromancy. He examines the earliest known Freemasons and their obsessions with Solomon’s Temple, alchemy and prophecy to the formation of the Grand Lodge in London, which in turn led to rebellions within the Craft throughout England, especially in York and with the formation of the ‘antients’. Harrison also analyses the role of French immigrant Dr Jean Theophilus Desaguliers in the development of English Freemasonry, focussing on his involvement with the formation of the mysterious modern Masonic ritual.

All Freemasons and more general readers will find much of interest in this fascinating exploration of the very beginnings of Freemasonry, still one of the most mysterious brotherhoods in the world.

Patti Smith Will Be the Mother-In-Law of Meg White

by Paul Cashmere - May 4 2009

In a few weeks Patti Smith will be Meg White`s mother-in-law.

The White Stripe drummer has announced that she is going to marry Jackson Smith, the son of rock icons Patti and the late Fred Smith, on May 22 in Nashville.

Jackson was the guitarist for Detroit band Back In Spades. His dad Fred was the guitarist for legendary punk band MC% and later performed in the Patti Smith Band.

Patti has been called the ‘Godmother of Punk’ although her greatest chart hit was nowhere near punk, it was a cover of the Bruce Springsteen song ‘Because The Night’.

Patti is also a recipient of the Ordre des Arts et des Letters by the French Minister of Culture, the equivalent of a knighthood in France.

34-year old Meg was previously married to White Stripes singer Jack White. They married in 1996 and divorced in 2000, but played a charade during those years that they were brother and sister, not husband and wife.

Meg met Jackson in 2007. They live together in Meg’s Detroit house.
