Robert Plant Says Avoiding Zep Reunion Is KeyTo His Success

Robert Plant Says Avoiding Led Zeppelin Reunion Key to His Recent Success
by: Billy Dukes

If Robert Plant were to run into his 25-year-old self, he says he’d tell that young man to take as many chances and risks as he can. “Because if you’re just a singer for the sake of it, it’s not quite enough.”

If you’re hoping for a Zeppelin reunion, stop. “I think that’s gone now,” Plant says matter-of-factly.

It's all over boys and girls, there will never be a quote Zep reunion, not in the way fans would like!

I Am The Flag - Poem

I Am The Flag

I am the flag of the United States of America. My name is Old Glory.
I fly atop the world's tallest buildings.
I stand watch in America's halls of justice.
I fly majestically over institutions of learning.
I stand guard with power in the world.
Look up and see me.
I stand for peace, honor, truth and justice.
I stand for freedom.
I am confident. I am arrogant. I am proud.
When I am flown with my fellow banners, my head is a little higher, my colors a little truer.
I bow to no one! I am recognized all over the world.
I am worshipped - I am saluted.
I am loved - I am revered. I am respected - and I am feared.
I have fought in every battle of every war for more then 200 years.
I was flown at Valley Forge, Gettysburg, Shiloh and Appamatox.
I was there at San Juan Hill, the trenches of France, in the Argonne Forest,
Anzio, Rome and the beaches of Normandy, Guam. Okinawa, Korea and KheSan, Saigon, Vietnam.
I was there. I led my troops,
I was dirty, battleworn and tired, but my soldiers cheered me
And I was proud.
I have been burned, torn and trampled on the streets of countries I have helped set free.
It does not hurt, for I am invincible.
I have been soiled upon, burned, torn and trampled on the streets of my country.
And when it's by those whom I've served in battle-it hurts.
But I shall overcome - for I am strong.
I have slipped the bonds of Earth and stood watch over the uncharted
frontiers of space from my vantage point on the moon.
I have borne silent witness to all of America's finest hours.
But my finest hours are yet to come.
When I am torn into strips and used as bandages for my wounded comrades on the battlefield,
When I am flown at half-mast to honor my soldier,
Or when I lie in the trembling arms of a grieving parent at
the grave of their fallen son or daughter, I am proud.
MY NAME IS OLD GLORY
LONG MAY I WAVE.

DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN:
LONG MAY I WAVE
PLEASE FORWARD MY MESSAGE TO ALL WHO
STILL LOVE AND RESPECT ME,
THAT I MAY FLY PROUDLY FOR
ANOTHER TWO HUNDRED YEARS.

Alice Cooper Horror To Open At Universal Studios

Alice Cooper Horror To Open At Universal Studios
By Paul Cashmere

Universal Studios will open its Alice Cooper maze in time for Halloween 2011.

‘Alice Cooper: Welcome To My Nightmare’ will be part of the new Halloween Horror Maze at Universal Studios Hollywood.

"We'll be creating this living horror movie within screaming distance of the sound stages where horror movies first began, so there's no place more appropriate to offer a preview of the new `Welcome 2 My Nightmare.' This will be a nightmare that will haunt visitors' dreams for a long time to come," Alice said in a statement

The maze is a walk-through experience with elements from the Alice Cooper show including guillotine decapitations, electric chairs, a sadistic insane asylum, plus of course snakes and Black Widow spiders.

Universal Music will release Alice’s new album ‘Welcome 2 My Nightmare’ in September as well. The album is the sequel to his 1975 classic ‘Welcome To My Nightmare’

Amy Winehouse Dead @ 27

Amy Winehouse Dead at 27
By Tim Cashmere

Singer Amy Winehouse has died today (Saturday July 23).

The cause of death is not immediately known, but it is understood that she was found in her London home, which police have confirmed to the Associated Press.

She was 27 years old.

What is it with the age of 27? So many rock stars die at that age - Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain...we know alcohol and drugs is the number one reason all these stars met an untimely early death. The number two reason is the not being able to cope with the fame monster, but is it a coincidence that it's always the magic number 27? Why then and not sooner or later? What is it about almost being 30 & famous?

Strawberry Fields Landmark Removed

Strawberry Fields Landmark Removed
By VVN Music

Another Liverpool landmark may be biting the dust. Just like the tearing down of Ringo Starr's home, the gates of Strawberry Fields have been removed.

The Salvation Army owns the land where the Strawberry Fields is located on which a Children's Home once stood. The difference in this case compared to Starr's house is that those gates are being put into storage for safe keeping and are being replaced by replicas made by a local metal worker and donated to the group. The concern of the organization was the general toll taken on the gates by both the weather and by the thousands of fans per year who touch the gates.

Major Ray Irving, the director of social services, told the Liverpool Echo "Although care has been taken to ensure the original gates to the site have remained in good condition, inevitably time has taken its toll. When Mr Bennett got in touch with us in 2010 and explained that he was creating a set of replica gates as a project, we were very interested. This means that the original gates can be kept safe from further deterioration and, with the replica gates in place, allow for an authentic experience for the many thousands of people who come on a musical pilgrimage to Strawberry Field."

The land where the home once stood is still not being utilized, but plans are in the works to develop the parcel into a center for youths with learning disabilities.

(This is nice, at least they're not tearing it down and plan on giving it an authetic feel with the replica gates and still leaving Strawberry Fields there for all who go and see it. It's a must see for any Beatles' fan, music fan or tourist to Liverpool.)

David Gilmour Joins Roger Waters For The Wall In London

David Gilmour Joins Roger Waters For The Wall In London
By Paul Cashmere

Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason were surprise guests at the Roger Waters ‘The Wall’ show in London creating a Pink Floyd reunion during ‘Comfortably Numb’.

Gilmour played his signature lead guitar part in the Pink Floyd classic while Mason later sat on the wall and played tambourine while Gilmour joined the band for ‘Outside The Wall’.

The last time Pink Floyd reunited was six years ago in London for Live 8. Waters and Gilmour last performed together for the Hoping Foundation in 2010.

However, don’t hold your breath for another Floyd reunion to happen anytime soon. In the blog at the David Gilmour website it says, “I should also remind you that tonight is most definitely a one-off; David is not repeating his special guest performance at a later occasion, I’m sorry to disappoint those of you with fingers crossed and tickets for later shows.

Steven Tyler To Release Solo Record & Autobiography

Steven Tyler To Release Solo Record And Autobiography

By Paul Cashmere

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler will release his very first solo song next month.

Tyler’s first non-Aerosmith tune is a song titled ‘Feels So Good’. It is described by Rolling Stone as “a poppy tune”.

It sounds like the single will be a one-off. Tyler has also revealed that Aerosmith are working on a new record with Jack Douglas, who produced their classic 70’s ‘Toys In The Attic” album.

Tyler is also expected to reveal all in his autobiography ‘Does The Noise In My Head Bother You’. Tyler says it is “All the unexpurgated, brain-jangling tales of debauchery, sex & drugs. and transcendence you will ever want to hear.”

"I've been mythicized, Mick-icized, eulogized and fooligized, I've been Cole-Portered and farmer's-daughtered, I've been Led Zepped and 12-stepped. I'm a rhyming fool and so cool that me, Fritz the Cat, and Mohair Sam are the baddest cats that am. I have so many outrageous stories, too many, and I'm gonna tell 'em all. All the unexpurgated, brain-jangling tales of debauchery, sex & drugs, transcendence & chemical dependence you will ever want to hear.

The book will be released by Harper Collins in May.

(Steven will reveal ALL...sounds like a tease, hope it has lots of nice pics of him. Possibly a good summer read.)

Robert Plant Brings Joy to Riverside

Ex-Led Zep frontman brings joy to Riverside

By Jon M. Gilbertson, Special to the Journal Sentinel

The opening minutes of Robert Plant's concert at the Riverside Theater Monday night would have been inauspicious if not for the breadth of what followed.

The former Led Zeppelin lead singer came out in clothing that lowered expectations: shabby blue jeans and a gray T-shirt that failed to conceal a body grown doughy with age.

He and his Band of Joy then presented Zep's "Black Dog" in a way that confoundingly removed the bombastic heart of the original.

But then Plant spent the rest of the night demonstrating the aptness of his band's name.

It was the band he worked with on last year's "Band of Joy" album, the sessions for which evidently resulted in a blissful connection among the musicians.

They also just as evidently intensified Plant's ability to interpret the songs of others, an ability given a serious workout on "Raising Sand," his 2007 Grammy-winning album with Alison Krauss.

Monday night, he captured the whispering menace of Low's "Monkey," kept faith with the traditional "Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down" and bit into the vengefulness of Richard Thompson's "House of Cards" - without losing his own identity.

(I wish these journalist would stop saying how Robert looks fat or real old or whatever negative thing they can pick on. Yes he was a golden beauty in his prime, but we all age! Life goes on and they shouldn't be constantly telling us that he's fat & not fit etc. Be happy that the man still goes out there and performs.)

Garbage Finishing NEW Album

Garbage Finishing Up First Album In Six Years

By Andrew Tijs

Shirley Manson has noted on her Facebook page that Garbage may have a new album “finished by summer”.

Manson wrote a note on her Facebook page to thank fans for supporting her appearance on new track ‘The Hunger’, written by System Of A Down ringleader Serj Tankian for a musical.

She also mentioned that she is back in the studio “with the boys”, presumably the boys from her first love – Garbage – who haven't released an album since 2005's Bleed Like Me.

She said that they are starting to “select tracks for the final collection”, and dared to suggest that they will have something finished by the Northern Hemisphere’s summer, around mid-year.

Here's the post in full.

“Darklings

Many thanks for all your sweet notes about 'The Hunger'.

It's been SUCH a long time since I dipped my toes into the waves and it is always a weird, almost scary feeling.......... like being full of electrical eels in my tummy.........so thankyou for taking the time to write and support the cause!

Back in the studio as of yesterday with the boys.....

We are getting up a nice head of steam as we really start to hone in and select tracks for the final collection.........

Dare I suggest we will have something finished by the summer?!

(This is awesome news for all Shirley Manson/Garbage fans :) It's been a long time since hearing the lovely Shirley's voice & will be most welcomed. She is definitely in my tops for women rockers.)

Ozzy Docu

Ozzy Osbourne Documentary Coming From Son Jack
By Paul Cashmere

A new documentary on Ozzy Osbourne is being released by Jacko Productions, a company started by Ozzy's son Jack.

God Bless Ozzy Osbourne (changed from Wreckage of My Past) is directed by Mike Pscitelli and includes unseen footage, interviews with members of Black Sabbath and other musicians with which Ozzy has worked through the years plus other music greats like Paul McCartney and Tommy Lee.

Osbourne recently commented "I said, 'Jack it can’t be how wonderful I am all the time because I’m not that way all the time, everybody wakes up in a bad mood, everybody is a bit of a dick sometimes and everybody has a good day. I’m human, you know'.

"I'm hoping he’s put a bit of sweet and sour in there. A documentary about my life is great but for every good thing there’s a bad thing you know. When I was out there drinking and doing drugs I don't suppose I was Mister Charming."

(For all Ozzy fans this will be great to see Ozzy's life the good and the bad.)

Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band - The Chain

Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band - The Chain
by Vee (Mystic Rock Boutique)

Wait a minute baby,
Stay with me awhile...
Said you'd give me light
But you never told me about the fire.

Drownin', in the sea of love
Where everyone would love to drown.

Lyrics: Sara - Fleetwood Mac

I just discovered this tribute band from Pittsburg, PA 'The Chain'& If you love Fleetwood Mac you're going to be delighted with The Chain. I'm a big fan of good music like Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Pink Floyd to name a few of my favorite bands. Fleetwood Mac was a band that had great popular songs on the radio that I liked & considered by most people as a great band with great musicians. This band 'The Chain' does Fleetwood Mac justice. The vocals are superb and the musicians do an excellent job covering the songs pretty much spot on. I'm really impressed with Kimmy (Stevie Nicks), her vocals are so close to the real Stevie it's unbelievable!!

The band is made up of 6 musicians/artists, all dressed just like Fleetwood Mac!

Founder - Jim (Doc) Stamps - Mick Fleetwood, Drums/Percussion
Kimmy Scholl - Stevie Nicks Lead Singer
Rob Gamerro - John McVie Bass
Sandy Anderson - Christine McVie Keyboards & Vocals
Keith Cole - Jeremy Spencer Guitar & vocals
Tony Acker - Lindsey Buckingham Guitar & Vocals

They have been playing together since 1991 as a cover band called 'Harder Edge' playing all sorts of classic rock songs. During that time the lead singer Kimmy and drummer Jim/Doc always had people saying to them that they looked like & sounded like Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood, so after so many comments to that effect they decided to try doing strictly a Fleetwood Mac tribute and in less than a years time they're getting gigs all over and being recognized as a great Fleetwood Mac tribute band.

Their shows sell out quick!! They play all the great Fleetwood Mac songs like Sara, The Chain, Gold Dust Woman, Gypsy, to many to name! At the end of their shows they pick like about a dozen people in the audience and give away their CD as a token of their appreciation for supporting the band. Their wish is to make Fleetwood Mac come ALIVE for the fans, make fans happy, have fun, & just enjoy the tunes. If you have a chance to catch one of their shows go and check them out!

Visit the band's website here. Get information on their tour dates, bios & music videos.
