A poll on UK radio has named 1967 as the greatest year in rock'n'roll
Famously called 'The Summer Of Love", 1967 was crowned yesterday after
a debate on BBC Radio 2, with the assistance of listeners, who have an
average age of 51.
Significant events in the year include the release of "Sgt Pepper's
Lonely Hearts Club Band" by The Beatles, alongside the global emergence of
The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd.
The performance of "All You Need Is Love" by The Beatles on national TV
to a global audience of 400 million, alongside the Monterey Festival
and the music of Jimi Hendrix, The Doors and The Beach Boys swayed the
Hippie trippy, I wasn't old enough to experience the summer of love, but the late 60's were a time of so much flower power and wanting to change the world for the better, everything was cool from fashion to attitude...and to this day the world is not only worse as far as people trying to get along, nothing to really unite us. Bring back the late 60's and early 70's peace n love and fancy free.
