Robert Plant Says Avoiding Zep Reunion Is KeyTo His Success

Some quotes from an interview with Robert Plant, to read it click here

Robert Plant Says Avoiding Led Zeppelin Reunion Key to His Recent Success
by: Billy Dukes

If Robert Plant were to run into his 25-year-old self, he says he’d tell that young man to take as many chances and risks as he can. “Because if you’re just a singer for the sake of it, it’s not quite enough.”

If you’re hoping for a Zeppelin reunion, stop. “I think that’s gone now,” Plant says matter-of-factly.

It's all over boys and girls, there will never be a quote Zep reunion, not in the way fans would like!

I Am The Flag - Poem

I Am The Flag

I am the flag of the United States of America. My name is Old Glory.
I fly atop the world's tallest buildings.
I stand watch in America's halls of justice.
I fly majestically over institutions of learning.
I stand guard with power in the world.
Look up and see me.
I stand for peace, honor, truth and justice.
I stand for freedom.
I am confident. I am arrogant. I am proud.
When I am flown with my fellow banners, my head is a little higher, my colors a little truer.
I bow to no one! I am recognized all over the world.
I am worshipped - I am saluted.
I am loved - I am revered. I am respected - and I am feared.
I have fought in every battle of every war for more then 200 years.
I was flown at Valley Forge, Gettysburg, Shiloh and Appamatox.
I was there at San Juan Hill, the trenches of France, in the Argonne Forest,
Anzio, Rome and the beaches of Normandy, Guam. Okinawa, Korea and KheSan, Saigon, Vietnam.
I was there. I led my troops,
I was dirty, battleworn and tired, but my soldiers cheered me
And I was proud.
I have been burned, torn and trampled on the streets of countries I have helped set free.
It does not hurt, for I am invincible.
I have been soiled upon, burned, torn and trampled on the streets of my country.
And when it's by those whom I've served in battle-it hurts.
But I shall overcome - for I am strong.
I have slipped the bonds of Earth and stood watch over the uncharted
frontiers of space from my vantage point on the moon.
I have borne silent witness to all of America's finest hours.
But my finest hours are yet to come.
When I am torn into strips and used as bandages for my wounded comrades on the battlefield,
When I am flown at half-mast to honor my soldier,
Or when I lie in the trembling arms of a grieving parent at
the grave of their fallen son or daughter, I am proud.
MY NAME IS OLD GLORY
LONG MAY I WAVE.

DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN:
LONG MAY I WAVE
PLEASE FORWARD MY MESSAGE TO ALL WHO
STILL LOVE AND RESPECT ME,
THAT I MAY FLY PROUDLY FOR
ANOTHER TWO HUNDRED YEARS.

Alice Cooper Horror To Open At Universal Studios

Alice Cooper Horror To Open At Universal Studios
By Paul Cashmere

Universal Studios will open its Alice Cooper maze in time for Halloween 2011.

‘Alice Cooper: Welcome To My Nightmare’ will be part of the new Halloween Horror Maze at Universal Studios Hollywood.

"We'll be creating this living horror movie within screaming distance of the sound stages where horror movies first began, so there's no place more appropriate to offer a preview of the new `Welcome 2 My Nightmare.' This will be a nightmare that will haunt visitors' dreams for a long time to come," Alice said in a statement

The maze is a walk-through experience with elements from the Alice Cooper show including guillotine decapitations, electric chairs, a sadistic insane asylum, plus of course snakes and Black Widow spiders.

Universal Music will release Alice’s new album ‘Welcome 2 My Nightmare’ in September as well. The album is the sequel to his 1975 classic ‘Welcome To My Nightmare’

(Sounds fantastic especially for Halloween, hmmm Maybe Ozzy & Black Sabbath could do something like that as well, can you imagine and all with sounds & music!)

Amy Winehouse Dead @ 27

Amy Winehouse Dead at 27
By Tim Cashmere

Singer Amy Winehouse has died today (Saturday July 23).

The cause of death is not immediately known, but it is understood that she was found in her London home, which police have confirmed to the Associated Press.

She was 27 years old.

What is it with the age of 27? So many rock stars die at that age - Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain...we know alcohol and drugs is the number one reason all these stars met an untimely early death. The number two reason is the not being able to cope with the fame monster, but is it a coincidence that it's always the magic number 27? Why then and not sooner or later? What is it about almost being 30 & famous?

Is It The End For Disturbed?

Disturbed To Split
By Paul Cashmere

Disturbed frontman David Draiman has been quoted as suggesting the band has come to the end of the road.

Talking to The Reverend Ian on Boise, Idaho radio KQXR Draiman said, "There won't be a 'Music For A Weapon' tour next year. We don't know what we're doing . . . We're not gonna do our own thing either. This is gonna be the last tour that the American people get to see us in for awhile, if not indefinitely. Read more here

Unlocking Jimmy Page - Site Launch

Unlocking Jimmy Page - Site Launch

As the roman numerals and the hourglass with sand ticked off the days until "the launch" fans of Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page awaited patiently for the BIG day.

JULY 14, 2011 - the day finally arrived. On Thursday in my email box there was an invitation for me to go to the new Jimmy Page website. As a dedicated Zep fan I had been counting down the days eagerly awaiting the website's debut.

Upon arrival there was a screen with music (a riff Jimmy Page found of himself playing long ago that he had forgotten about and thought it would be great to put up on his new site) but that was all you could access, to go beyond into the site you had to unlock it with a key.

You get the key (or access) when you create a user profile. What is this I said to myself, I have to have a key to access the site? Yes you can't just surf in and start browsing. You have to create a user profile and THEN you can get in. So I created a user profile and in I went. I know Jimmy likes to keep things tight, so it's like having a backstage pass that only fans that have access can get in.

Everyday the front of the site changes and to go in you have to have your user name and password. The site is chronicling his history in music and unlocking the vaults for the first time ever, JimmyPage.com brings you previously unseen and unheard multimedia material from Jimmy's personal archives.

He has an on this day feature: ON THIS DAY
Conceptualised and curated by Jimmy Page himself, one of the site’s biggest highlights is ‘On This Day’, a daily diary featuring events spanning the entirety of his immense career, from the 1960’s to the present day.

It has all sorts of photos of Jimmy all are watermarked and you can't save them to your computer. If you haven't yet unlocked Jimmy's site get your self down there and take a look inside! Jimmy Page Website http://www.jimmypage.com/ Oh and membership is FREE :)

Zep Fest 2011 Shattered

The Disintegration of Zep Fest

Posted by Ally Schweitzer on May. 16, 2011

Zep Fest, the Led Zeppelin-themed rock fest previously scheduled May 27-29 at National Harbor, has been canceled. We found out this morning. But it seems some of the booked entertainment hasn't been informed yet.

This is just awful! An event such as this one a 3 day Zep Fest that has been promoted for nearly one year on Facebook suddenly canceled in less than two weeks before it hits the stage is outrageous!

Many fans and the bands set aside time, money and put a lot of their soul into going to DC for Memorial Day weekend and partake of this fest to suddenly have their dreams shattered in a heartbeat with NO reasons made public by the promoter as to WHY so suddenly they called it off.

If they knew that ticket sales were poor they should have put an end to this festival a long while ago not wait until two weeks before show time. Some people will never recover from this fiasco & will always have a bitter sweet feeling about the not official start of summer Memorial Day weekend.

Wishing everyone that was going to attend that they get their money refunded & quick.

I think it will be very hard for people to trust another of these so called FESTS that are started on Facebook.

Strawberry Fields Landmark Removed

Strawberry Fields Landmark Removed
By VVN Music

Another Liverpool landmark may be biting the dust. Just like the tearing down of Ringo Starr's home, the gates of Strawberry Fields have been removed.

The Salvation Army owns the land where the Strawberry Fields is located on which a Children's Home once stood. The difference in this case compared to Starr's house is that those gates are being put into storage for safe keeping and are being replaced by replicas made by a local metal worker and donated to the group. The concern of the organization was the general toll taken on the gates by both the weather and by the thousands of fans per year who touch the gates.

Major Ray Irving, the director of social services, told the Liverpool Echo "Although care has been taken to ensure the original gates to the site have remained in good condition, inevitably time has taken its toll. When Mr Bennett got in touch with us in 2010 and explained that he was creating a set of replica gates as a project, we were very interested. This means that the original gates can be kept safe from further deterioration and, with the replica gates in place, allow for an authentic experience for the many thousands of people who come on a musical pilgrimage to Strawberry Field."

The land where the home once stood is still not being utilized, but plans are in the works to develop the parcel into a center for youths with learning disabilities.

(This is nice, at least they're not tearing it down and plan on giving it an authetic feel with the replica gates and still leaving Strawberry Fields there for all who go and see it. It's a must see for any Beatles' fan, music fan or tourist to Liverpool.)

David Gilmour Joins Roger Waters For The Wall In London

David Gilmour Joins Roger Waters For The Wall In London
By Paul Cashmere

Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason were surprise guests at the Roger Waters ‘The Wall’ show in London creating a Pink Floyd reunion during ‘Comfortably Numb’.

Gilmour played his signature lead guitar part in the Pink Floyd classic while Mason later sat on the wall and played tambourine while Gilmour joined the band for ‘Outside The Wall’.

The last time Pink Floyd reunited was six years ago in London for Live 8. Waters and Gilmour last performed together for the Hoping Foundation in 2010.

However, don’t hold your breath for another Floyd reunion to happen anytime soon. In the blog at the David Gilmour website it says, “I should also remind you that tonight is most definitely a one-off; David is not repeating his special guest performance at a later occasion, I’m sorry to disappoint those of you with fingers crossed and tickets for later shows.

Watch the performance here:

Led Zeppelin Experience: Q&A With Jason Bonham

Led Zeppelin Experience: Q&A With Jason Bonham

Alan Sculley: Well let’s ask about the tour itself and this whole concept that you had that brought this together and I think one thing I’m real curious about is what you think makes the Led Zeppelin Experience show you’re taking out something different then any number of the tribute bands that are out there for Led Zeppelin. What are you doing that really separates it from, you know, those kind of shows?

Jason Bonham: Well, one thing I kind of give it is that I’ve actually played with the band a couple of times and had some moments in authenticity. First and foremost JBLZE is a concert. But I give it a slightly different angle from the story content of the show and I release and show some very tender and pure moments that not many people have seen such as my dad as a child growing up with his father and interacting with his own family and his brother and his children.

And, you know, this is a man that would grow up to be the Beast, the guy--Bonzo, the legendary guy that was one of the first to throw a TV set through a window. But realistically he was my dad and just an everyday guy really. So within the context of the show I talk a little about him as a personal person, you know, as a guy that I knew not so much as the guy that you know as Bonzo, but as my father. I show some of the moments we shared together which were and are, you know, very cherished now.

We didn’t live in the era of everything being recordable on your phone and very easily accessible. So when you see these moments, they’re very few and far between as my Dad could record and capture. And also I like to touch on the love I have of the music, playing with the guys every kind of song that has a different story, a different element of where I put it in the show. And each song is chosen for a reason. There’s nothing we’ve put there because it was a popular song or whatever.

I have a story for each one. But the music does the talking in itself and I just, tell a few moments that were not spoken too much about, the reasons I do certain songs in the set and my own personal take on when I played them with Led Zeppelin.

So that’s why it’s my, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience and this is where I suppose it’s different from the others. But obviously one of the major differences is I have been lucky enough to have played with the band a couple of times. Not many of them can say that....

Doug Fox: Okay great. It seems to me, would you say that you’re closer to Robert than you are to Jimmy and John these days?

Jason Bonham: Yeah. I would say I speak to Robert more on a regular basis than I do to Jimmy and John but I find that there’s still kind of that closeness when we all see each other. It’s like we haven’t been apart for years and we carry on the conversation like we just left off, that’s how it has always been.

Patti Smith To Receive Polar Music Prize

Patti Smith To Receive Polar Music Prize

By Paul Cashmere

Poet, singer and songwriter Patti Smith is this year’s recipient of Sweden’s Polar Music Prize.

Smith will receive the award from King Carl XVI Gustaf in a ceremony at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm on August 30.

“By devoting her life to art in all its forms, Patti Smith has demonstrated how much rock’n'roll there is in poetry and how much poetry there is in rock’n'roll,” a spokesperson for the Prize announced. “Patti Smith is a Rimbaud with Marshall amps. She has transformed the way an entire generation looks, thinks and dreams. With her inimitable soul of an artist, Patti Smith proves over and over again that people have the power”.

The Kronos Quartet will also receive the award.

The Polar Music Prize was founded in 1989 by the late Stig Anderson (manager of Abba).

Previous recipients include Paul McCartney, Elton John, Dizzy Gillespie, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Pink Floyd, Sonny Rollins, B.B. King and Bob Dylan.

(Congrats to Patti Smith, I'm sure Jim Morrison would be proud of her :)

AC/DC to Release New Album In a Few Years

AC/DC To Release Album In "The Next Couple Of Years"

By Tim Cashmere

AC/DC have plans to release an album “within the next couple of years”.

The comment came from guitarist Angus Young, who told bangshowbiz.com: “At some point we’ll be touring again once we get a new album out, which will hopefully be within the next couple of years.”

The band, who in their first four years managed to release nine iconic albums, have not been known for their speedy recording processes of late, so when they say “within the next couple of years”, that’s actually pretty fast, considering their last record ‘Black Ice’ came out in 2008.

Their Black Ice tour saw them playing once again to enormous crowds. Their Australian leg of the tour set ticketing records. If you were one of the squillions of people that checked the show out, you can relive it with their live DVD ‘AC/DC: Live At River Plate’, which hits stores next week.

(AC/DC will keep on rockin' like The Rolling Stones. Some bands just love touring others just don't do it even though there is high demand for them to tour...like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin. I know they don't have all their original band mates, but there is still high demand for them to play even if it was just a few selected dates and taped as a DVD, that would satisfy many!)

Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi Autobiography Details Revealed

Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi Autobiography Details Revealed
By Andrew Tijs

Details have come to light about Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi’s forthcoming autobiography.

A blurb about Iron Man: My Life In Black Sabbath And Beyond says that it covers his “rough-and-tumble childhood”, divorces, addiction, fame, his bandmates, and “the ups and downs of his life as an artist”.

The description reads, "Everything associated with hard rock happened to Black Sabbath first: the drugs, the debauchery, the drinking, the dungeons, the pressure, the pain, the conquests, the company men, the contracts, the combustible drummer, the critics, the comebacks, the singers, the Stonehenge set, the music, the money, the madness, the metal."

Bravewords.com write that the book will be released on October 13 in the UK and November 1 in the US.

Although fansite Black-Sabbath.com says the book is not yet finished and the release date may change.

(So many excellent books coming out or that are already out in bookstores. This one Steven Tylers, Nikki Sixx, but none as expensive as Jimmy Page's book!)

Steven Tyler To Release Solo Record & Autobiography

Steven Tyler To Release Solo Record And Autobiography

By Paul Cashmere

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler will release his very first solo song next month.

Tyler’s first non-Aerosmith tune is a song titled ‘Feels So Good’. It is described by Rolling Stone as “a poppy tune”.

It sounds like the single will be a one-off. Tyler has also revealed that Aerosmith are working on a new record with Jack Douglas, who produced their classic 70’s ‘Toys In The Attic” album.

Tyler is also expected to reveal all in his autobiography ‘Does The Noise In My Head Bother You’. Tyler says it is “All the unexpurgated, brain-jangling tales of debauchery, sex & drugs. and transcendence you will ever want to hear.”

"I've been mythicized, Mick-icized, eulogized and fooligized, I've been Cole-Portered and farmer's-daughtered, I've been Led Zepped and 12-stepped. I'm a rhyming fool and so cool that me, Fritz the Cat, and Mohair Sam are the baddest cats that am. I have so many outrageous stories, too many, and I'm gonna tell 'em all. All the unexpurgated, brain-jangling tales of debauchery, sex & drugs, transcendence & chemical dependence you will ever want to hear.

The book will be released by Harper Collins in May.

(Steven will reveal ALL...sounds like a tease, hope it has lots of nice pics of him. Possibly a good summer read.)

Foo Fighters #1 Debut?

Foo Fighters Well In Front For Number One Debut
By Paul Cashmere

Foo Fighters will easily have the biggest selling album in the USA this week.

Hitsdailydouble.com is tracking ‘Wasting Light’ by Foo Fighters for a clear number debut with sales more than double that of the number two album which will be the new Alison Krauss record ‘Paper Airplane’.

Latin act Mana will score a Top 5 debut with ‘Drama Y Luz’ while inside the Top 20 expect to see Paul Simon ‘So Beautiful Or So What’.

One oddity in the American chart this week is big sales of Eminem’s 2000 release ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’ which is tracking mid week in the Top 30.

All will be revealed later this week.

(Looks like ROCK is trying to make it to the top with the Foo Fighters. We need more rock enough with the pop, rap, country stuff, where is the ROCK?)

Fans Rule Motley Crue's Set List

Fans To Decide Motley Crue's Set List
By VintageVinylNews

If the fans don't like the choice of songs at this summer's Motley Crue shows, they'll have nobody to blame but themselves.

Starting today, a voting page will be up on the band's official website according to band member Nikki Sixx.

He said "We've decided to let the fans vote Crüe's set list for this summer's tour. Gonna put a voting page up at Motley.com Monday (April 18). You wanted it, you got it f**kers..."

The tour will include Poison and the New York Dolls in a first for the Crue.

According to Sixx, they always made it a policy to never tour with an artist from their era as did Poison but, with today's economy and fan tastes, it finally got to be time to break their rules.

He said, "...we were, like, 'You know, this time right now, economically, it's so bad for touring and for fans and for bands. What can we do to make the ultimate fan experience?’ All the hits, the show, they know all the music... And both bands put on just a killer show, and we're looking forward to it."

(Sounds like a great plan to me. The fans get to rule the set list, that's what I call interactive. Also Motley Crue touring with Poison is a great idea, double bang for the $$'s)

Robert Plant Brings Joy to Riverside

Ex-Led Zep frontman brings joy to Riverside

By Jon M. Gilbertson, Special to the Journal Sentinel

The opening minutes of Robert Plant's concert at the Riverside Theater Monday night would have been inauspicious if not for the breadth of what followed.

The former Led Zeppelin lead singer came out in clothing that lowered expectations: shabby blue jeans and a gray T-shirt that failed to conceal a body grown doughy with age.

He and his Band of Joy then presented Zep's "Black Dog" in a way that confoundingly removed the bombastic heart of the original.

But then Plant spent the rest of the night demonstrating the aptness of his band's name.

It was the band he worked with on last year's "Band of Joy" album, the sessions for which evidently resulted in a blissful connection among the musicians.

They also just as evidently intensified Plant's ability to interpret the songs of others, an ability given a serious workout on "Raising Sand," his 2007 Grammy-winning album with Alison Krauss.

Monday night, he captured the whispering menace of Low's "Monkey," kept faith with the traditional "Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down" and bit into the vengefulness of Richard Thompson's "House of Cards" - without losing his own identity.

(I wish these journalist would stop saying how Robert looks fat or real old or whatever negative thing they can pick on. Yes he was a golden beauty in his prime, but we all age! Life goes on and they shouldn't be constantly telling us that he's fat & not fit etc. Be happy that the man still goes out there and performs.)

Ozzy Vs Taxman

Ozzy Vs Taxman

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne owe more than $1.7 million to the IRS in back taxes, according to documents obtained by the media outlet.
The IRS filed a document last Monday with the L.A. County Recorder's Office, claiming Ozzy and Sharon owe $718,948.25 for the 2008 tax year, and $1,024,175.03 for 2009.

Sharon also had a tax lien issue in 2009, when she owed $23,000 to the State of California for the 2007 tax year. Daughter Kelly is also on the hook

(That's a whole lotta taxes owed! Nobody likes to pay taxes, but we all have to do it at some point. What do you think Ozzy & Sharon's excuse is?)

Slayer & Rob Zombie Total Destruction

Slayer And Rob Zombie Promise Hell On Earth

By Andrew Tijs

Metal heroes Slayer and Rob Zombie join forces for a sixteen-date tour across the US and Canada.

The tour, dubbed Hell On Earth, is purportedly the first time these metal legends have shared a stage since Ozzfest in 1999 – twelve years ago (we guess that sharing places on the Soundwave bill this year don’t quite count.

Slayer axeman Kerry King said in a statement: “You can expect no less than 'hell on earth’. Total sonic annihilation and a visual bludgeoning. Bring your own body bag...”

And Rob Zombie got a little Spinal Tap on the fans, saying, “Total destruction on stage and off is what this combination promises. Seriously, how much more Hell could you ask for? The answer is none more Hell.”

They’ll play 16 dates in late July and early August, from Pittsburgh to Seattle and hopping up Canada for shows in Toronto, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary, Victoria and Vancouver.

Before the tour kicks off, Slayer join Metallica, Anthrax and Megadeth for the monstrous Big Four concert in California on April 23.

(Are you ready to go to hell? ;) what a tour that will be, metal till you BURN!)

Roger Daltrey Says The Who Better Than The Beach Boys

Roger Daltrey says The Who were better than The Beach Boys

By Music-News.com, Tim Cashmere

Roger Daltrey reckons The Who's vocal harmonies were better than The Beach Boys'.

The singer with the legendary 'My Generation' rockers performed a solo concert at London's Royal Albert Hall last night (24.03.11), where he paid tribute to the band's late bassist John Entwistle, and joked about being better than the famous Californian group.

Toward the end of his set he said: "Back in the '70s we used to love doing harmonies. The Beach Boys - we s**t on them.

"John always had the loudest voice, he had the voice of an angel."

Adding praise to the British armed forces, he added: "So this is for him and all those guys out there who are sent to terrible places like Afghanistan."

Roger performed The Who's classic 'Tommy' album in full at the concert, bringing the band's guitarist, Pete Townshend, on stage for two tracks at the charity show, raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Pete - who can no longer play full sets with the group because of continuing problems with his hearing- took lead vocals and on 'The Acid Queen' and later played on 'Baba O'Riley'.

John died of a heart attack in Las Vegas in 2002. The band's drummer, Keith Moon, died in 1978 of a prescription drugs overdose.

(Hmmm I don't know 'bout that! I think the Beach Boys harmonies were awesome. When I think of the Who I think of ROCK, loud guitars, bass, drums, and forceful vocals, the power of rock, Roger Daltrey's legendery scream, anthem like songs. That's not to say The Who's harmonies weren't there.)

Brian May - Axl Is Not Difficult

Brian May insists Axl Rose isn't as 'difficult' as people think

By Music-News.com

Although the Guns 'N Roses frontman axed the Queen guitarist's collaborations from his band's 2008 album 'Chinese Democracy', Brian insists the rocker has always been "attentive", and says people shouldn't think less of him because of his past decision.

He said: "People think of Axl as difficult, but he was always very attentive to me."

The musician explained that even though he worked with Guns 'N Roses on some of the album tracks only to find his work was cut when the record was finally released, he was still very much involved in the album's creation.

He said: "I flew out to meet him and he played me pretty much the whole album. We had a long night, talking, thinking, figuring out potential directions, and then I had a couple of days just trying things out.

"I think I played on two-and-a-half tracks, but they didn't end up using my parts. They used about 10 guitarists subsequent to that!"

However, Brian has no hard feelings, saying he will never release the original recordings out of respect for Axl.

He explained Uncut magazine: "I have rough mixes of these tracks somewhere in my archive, but I'm not going to let anyone listen to them, out of loyalty to Axl.

"It was fun, to throw something in there to help out a friend."

(Brian may - Now that's what I call a man with class & a good friend, someone you can trust.)

Freddie Mercury And Michael Jackson Collaborations Coming

Freddie Mercury And Michael Jackson Collaborations Coming

By Andrew Tijs

Three early-‘80s tracks recorded by Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson will see the light of day.

NME spoke to Queen’s Roger Taylor, who is currently working on the songs for release in the near future.

Taylor said, “We are now working on some never before released songs that Freddie made with Michael in the early-'80s. I'm not allowed to say too much about it, but they sound incredible."

The first was a demo for the Jackson and Mick Jagger collaboration 'State Of Shock', which was eventually released in 1984.

The two other tracks – 'Victory' and 'There Must Be More To Life Than This' – were previously going to be released in 2002 but it never eventuated.

(There always seems to be left over recordings somewhere that get released after artists die & at times these recordings are quite good. I know most fans of any artist want anything and everything from said artist that can be unearthed to be released. This Freddie Mercury/Michael Jackson collaboration sounds very interesting.)

Roger Waters Reissues 'The Wall' Concert

Roger Waters Reissues 'The Wall' Concert

By Music-News.com, Tim Cashmere

Roger Waters' seminal concert of The Wall before a live audience of 250,000 in Berlin and international live broadcast viewership of ½ billion is, arguably, the greatest concert event in history.

Staged on vacant terrain between Potsdamer Platz and the Brandenburg Gate in the wake of the fall of the Berlin Wall, it marks a momentous cultural and political landmark. Roger is taking a new production of The Wall on tour across Europe from March and to celebrate Universal Music are proud to present a repackaged, limited deluxe combo edition of the DVD and 2-CD live album.

'30 years ago when I wrote The Wall, I was a frightened young man. Well, not that young, I was 36 years old. It took me a long time to get over my fears. Anyway, in the intervening years it has occurred to me that maybe the story of my fear and loss with its concomitant inevitable residue of ridicule, shame and punishment, provides an allegory for broader concerns: nationalism, racism, sexism, religion, whatever! All these issues and 'isms are driven by the same fears that drove my young life.' (Roger Waters, 2010)

In the UK the new production of The Wall will be performed at London's O2 Arena on six nights in May from the 11th to 18th, followed by two nights at the Manchester Evening News Arena on the 20th and 21st. It will return to the UK for a date at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena on 27th June with one more date at the Manchester Evening News Arena on 28th June.

Green Day Live Album on Vinyl?

Green Day’s Live Album To Come Out On Vinyl

By Andrew Tijs

Green Day’s excitably-titled new album will come out on double pink vinyl with an exclusive tee-shirt.

The album, Awesome As Fuck, will be released on pink 180-gram double gatefold vinyl by Adeline Records on April 26.

The package will also include an exclusive tee-shirt, all available for pre-order at Adeline’s online store here.

The band recorded all the shows on their 21st Century Breakdown Tour and selected the best performances for the 17-track live album from places as disparate as Berlin, Brisbane, Glasgow and Dallas.

There will be an accompanying DVD shot in Tokyo and the iTunes version will feature two bonus tracks.

The CD and DVD pack will be released through Reprise on March 22.

(How do you like the album's title? Vinyl? How many people will buy a turntable to play the new album? Good thing they also will release it on CD and on iTunes. I know that vinyl records have a more warm sound to them and the artwork on albums is great, but I can only imagine the vinyl record is being marketed to the vinyl collectors out there. I was sad when albums became dinosaurs in the music world but now seems they're a collector piece, glad I still have a turntable ;O & albums from yesteryear :) )

Garbage Finishing NEW Album

Garbage Finishing Up First Album In Six Years

By Andrew Tijs

Shirley Manson has noted on her Facebook page that Garbage may have a new album “finished by summer”.

Manson wrote a note on her Facebook page to thank fans for supporting her appearance on new track ‘The Hunger’, written by System Of A Down ringleader Serj Tankian for a musical.

She also mentioned that she is back in the studio “with the boys”, presumably the boys from her first love – Garbage – who haven't released an album since 2005's Bleed Like Me.

She said that they are starting to “select tracks for the final collection”, and dared to suggest that they will have something finished by the Northern Hemisphere’s summer, around mid-year.

Here's the post in full.

“Darklings

Many thanks for all your sweet notes about 'The Hunger'.

It's been SUCH a long time since I dipped my toes into the waves and it is always a weird, almost scary feeling.......... like being full of electrical eels in my tummy.........so thankyou for taking the time to write and support the cause!

Back in the studio as of yesterday with the boys.....

We are getting up a nice head of steam as we really start to hone in and select tracks for the final collection.........

Dare I suggest we will have something finished by the summer?!

(This is awesome news for all Shirley Manson/Garbage fans :) It's been a long time since hearing the lovely Shirley's voice & will be most welcomed. She is definitely in my tops for women rockers.)

Alice In Chains Bassist Mike Starr Found Dead

Alice In Chains Ex- Bassist Mike Starr Found Dead

By Andrew Tijs

Mike Starr, the founding bassist for Alice In Chains who had long struggled with addiction, has died.

According to TMZ, Starr was found dead by authorities in a house in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Starr played bass in grunge-metal pioneers Alice In Chains from their beginning, leaving the band during the touring engagements following the release of their breakthrough 1992 album Dirt.

Singer Layne Staley told Rolling Stone in 1994 that Starr left the band due to “a difference in priorities. We wanted to continue intense touring and press, Mike was ready to go home.”

Layne Staley was found dead in 2002 following a long battle with heroin addiction and Starr also struggled with drug addiction.

Starr appeared in VH1 reality TV series Celebrity Rehab last year, declaring himself six months sober in a follow-up episode.

He was also arrested on suspicion of felony drug possession in Salt Lake City on February 18 this year.

He was 44.

(So sad when rockstars die this way, but it's hard to stay away from drugs when you're in a life where there is drugs all around you. There is always temptation and they take it. May he rest in peace.)

Hendrix Sales Topped One Million

Jimi Hendrix Sales Topped One Million In 2010

By VVN Music , Paul Cashmere

Jimi Hendrix died more than 40 years ago but his music is still selling. In 2010, more than 1 million Hendrix albums were bought by fans.

This year, three more releases have been scheduled for the Hendrix Estate. All will be available on April 12.

First up is a reissue of Power Of Soul: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix, a collection of sixteen performances covering artists both classic and modern. It is the first tribute album to be curated under Hendrix LLC and they assembled quite the roster from Santana, Eric Clapton and Sting to archive tracks from John Lee Hooker and Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble.

The album was originally released on May 4, 2004.

A special vinyl single taken from the album will also be released for record store day featuring tracks by Cee Lo Green, Santana and Robert Randolph & the Slide Brothers.

The track list for the album:

Gratitude - James Al Hendrix
Are You Experienced? - Musiq Soulchild
Spanish Castle Magic - Santana
Purple House - Prince
The Wind Cries Mary - Sting
Voodoo Child (Slight Return) - Earth, Wind & Fire
Power Of Soul - Bootsy Collins (featuring George Clinton & the P-Funk All-Stars)
Burning Of The Midnight Lamp - Eric Clapton
Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland) - Lenny Kravitz
30 Years - James Al Hendrix
Who Knows - Devoted Spirits (featuring George Duke)
Purple Haze - Robert Randolph & The Family Band
Going Home - Velvert Turner
Little Wing - Chaka Khan & Kenny Olson
Castles Made Of Sand - Sounds Of Blackness
May This Be Love - Eric Gales
Foxy Lady - Cee-Lo Green
Red House - John Lee Hooker
Little Wing/3rd Stone From The Sun - Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble.

South Saturn Delta is a reissue of the 1997 album that collects rare tracks from every incarnation of group in which Hendrix played including both versions of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, his expanded Woodstock ensemble Gypsy Sun & Rainbows, and the Band of Gypsys.

There are fifteen tracks on the album, including demos to lost masters. Alongside lost gems as Tax Free, Look Over Yonder, and Pali Gap stand previously unreleased recordings including Here He Comes (Lover Man), Message To The Universe and Midnight Lightning.

The album will be released on CD, digital download and double-12" vinyl.

The final re-release will be a DVD of Jimi Hendrix: Band of Gypsys (Live at Fillmore East), the Grammy award winner for Best Long Form Video of 1999. The 83-minute documentary includes interviews with Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell, Noel Redding, Billy Cox and Buddy Miles with additional comments from Lenny Kravitz, Vernon Reed and Slash. The concert footage is the only known footage of the group in concert, including Jimi's stunning and devastating performance of Machine Gun.

The new edition of the DVD also has previously unseen bonus features, new stereo and 5.1 mixes and additional footage of performances of Foxy Lady, Power Of Soul, Stepping Stone and Who Knows.

Legacy's first round of Jimi Hendrix releases opened with the release of Valleys of Neptune, a long-awaited album of previously unavailable Jimi Hendrix studio recordings, which debuted on the Billboard 200 best-selling albums chart at #4 while four additional Hendrix catalog titles (Are You Experienced (#44), Electric Ladyland (#60), First Rays of the New Rising Sun (#63), and Axis: Bold As Love (#67)) rocketed back into the Billboard 200 four decades after their original release dates. A testimony to the enduring vitality and importance of the trailblazing artist-guitarist-performer, Jimi Hendrix had five albums in America's Top 100 in March 2010.

The second wave of 2010 Jimi Hendrix titles culminated in the long awaited release of West Coast Seattle Boy: The Jimi Hendrix Anthology, a definitive career-spanning four CD box set tracking Hendrix's remarkable journey from R&B sideman to international stardom. The deluxe set is filled with previously unreleased Jimi Hendrix Experience recordings plus demos, alternate takes and more. The newly curated and assembled Jimi Hendrix anthology will include a new Hendrix documentary directed by the Grammy award winning Bob Smeaton (Beatles Anthology, Festival Express, Beatles: The Studio Recordings).

(This article says it all, the classics always live on. Jimi Hendrix may be gone but his essence, his art, his music will always live on, it's his legacy. Same is true of Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, The Beatles etc. Their music lives on for another generation to discover and enjoy.)

Dio Tribute Album

Ronnie James Dio Tribute To Feature Grohl, Halford, Lemmy
By Andrew Tijs

A tribute album to the late, great metal singer Ronnie James Dio looks to have a star-studded line-up.

Ronnie’s widow Wendy Dio has revealed to Noisecreep an enviable list of contributors for a forthcoming tribute to the Black Sabbath and Dio singer.

She confirms Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes, Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl, Motorhead’s Lemmy, Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach, Fozzy’s Chris Jericho and Alice Cooper.

She suggested that Grohl will take on Black Sabbath’s ‘Mob Rules’ and Halford will have a crack at ‘Long Live Rock N’ Roll’.

Dio confirmed that the album “probably won't come out this year, but everybody signed up. Even today they were picking songs for which songs they're gonna do.”

She said she is going to fund the album through an auction of Dio memorabilia.

(Always nice especially if it's done really well. Dave Grohl always seems up for playing with great musicians & tributes.)

Ozzy Docu

Ozzy Osbourne Documentary Coming From Son Jack
By Paul Cashmere

A new documentary on Ozzy Osbourne is being released by Jacko Productions, a company started by Ozzy's son Jack.

God Bless Ozzy Osbourne (changed from Wreckage of My Past) is directed by Mike Pscitelli and includes unseen footage, interviews with members of Black Sabbath and other musicians with which Ozzy has worked through the years plus other music greats like Paul McCartney and Tommy Lee.

Osbourne recently commented "I said, 'Jack it can’t be how wonderful I am all the time because I’m not that way all the time, everybody wakes up in a bad mood, everybody is a bit of a dick sometimes and everybody has a good day. I’m human, you know'.

"I'm hoping he’s put a bit of sweet and sour in there. A documentary about my life is great but for every good thing there’s a bad thing you know. When I was out there drinking and doing drugs I don't suppose I was Mister Charming."

(For all Ozzy fans this will be great to see Ozzy's life the good and the bad.)

Alice Cooper Sets Things Straight & Zings Robert Plant

Alice Cooper Addresses False Biopic Story
By VVN Music

Alice Cooper has been forced to take to his website to refute false reports recently posted on Holland's Veronica Radio website.

"To all you Sick Things out there,

There was a completely false "news" report in Veronica Radio's online magazine in Holland today (Friday, 28th January 2011), claiming that there is a forthcoming movie on Alice's life that will commence filming in February and also that this year's tour will be his last. Both of these "news" reports are completely false! Please do not believe these rumors".

In other Cooper news, Alice has criticized Robert Plant for not wanting to get back together with Led Zeppelin. He told the U.K.'s Independent, "I go out on stage and say 'turn it up'. I never get tired of playing my songs.

"They are just standing there. What is so hard? Jimmy Page wants to do it. John Paul Jones wants to do it. And they got Bonham]'s son Jason, who is a killer drummer. All they need is Robert Plant. But what is Robert Plant out there doing? Playing folk music! What is he doing?"

(Now that Alice set the record straight, it's all good. He really did let out a zing out at Robert Plant though. I would love to see Robert do some Led Zeppelin music with Jimmy JPJ and Jason, but it's clear that Robert is happy doing what he is doing now even if it isn't bombastic like Led Zeppelin. In the end to each their own, we all have to follow our own tune that which makes us most happiest. Please thy self.)

Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band - The Chain

Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band - The Chain
by Vee (Mystic Rock Boutique)

Wait a minute baby,
Stay with me awhile...
Said you'd give me light
But you never told me about the fire.

Drownin', in the sea of love
Where everyone would love to drown.

Lyrics: Sara - Fleetwood Mac

I just discovered this tribute band from Pittsburg, PA 'The Chain'& If you love Fleetwood Mac you're going to be delighted with The Chain. I'm a big fan of good music like Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Pink Floyd to name a few of my favorite bands. Fleetwood Mac was a band that had great popular songs on the radio that I liked & considered by most people as a great band with great musicians. This band 'The Chain' does Fleetwood Mac justice. The vocals are superb and the musicians do an excellent job covering the songs pretty much spot on. I'm really impressed with Kimmy (Stevie Nicks), her vocals are so close to the real Stevie it's unbelievable!!

The band is made up of 6 musicians/artists, all dressed just like Fleetwood Mac!

Founder - Jim (Doc) Stamps - Mick Fleetwood, Drums/Percussion
Kimmy Scholl - Stevie Nicks Lead Singer
Rob Gamerro - John McVie Bass
Sandy Anderson - Christine McVie Keyboards & Vocals
Keith Cole - Jeremy Spencer Guitar & vocals
Tony Acker - Lindsey Buckingham Guitar & Vocals

They have been playing together since 1991 as a cover band called 'Harder Edge' playing all sorts of classic rock songs. During that time the lead singer Kimmy and drummer Jim/Doc always had people saying to them that they looked like & sounded like Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood, so after so many comments to that effect they decided to try doing strictly a Fleetwood Mac tribute and in less than a years time they're getting gigs all over and being recognized as a great Fleetwood Mac tribute band.

Their shows sell out quick!! They play all the great Fleetwood Mac songs like Sara, The Chain, Gold Dust Woman, Gypsy, to many to name! At the end of their shows they pick like about a dozen people in the audience and give away their CD as a token of their appreciation for supporting the band. Their wish is to make Fleetwood Mac come ALIVE for the fans, make fans happy, have fun, & just enjoy the tunes. If you have a chance to catch one of their shows go and check them out!

Visit the band's website here. Get information on their tour dates, bios & music videos.
