Zep Almost Reformed Jason Bonham Blurps

Jason Bonham Says Led Zep Tour Almost Happened

by Tim Cashmere - July 13 2010

Son of the late John Bonham and temporary Led Zeppelin drummer has let it slip that Zeppelin “almost reformed” without enigmatic singer Robert Plant.

In an interview with musicradar.com, Bonham said “It got as close as you could get. It got real close. You know, we did a year of writing and putting stuff together. I loved working with Jimmy and John Paul. It was so much fun. That band…I think we felt more like a band than Black Country Communion.”

“I think basically [Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones] agreed to disagree. After a while, it was just time to move on.”

He also denied that Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge was ever involved in the band, saying there was “somebody else involved, and that’s all I’ll say to that.”

The rumour of Kennedy touring as part of Led Zeppelin came from Twisted Sister front man Dee Snider, who shares a manager with Robert Plant.

Bonham is also planning a tribute to his father [Led Zeppelin drummer] John, tentatively called ‘Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience’, which will be a live show, although there is no word on who is going to be in the band or what songs they’re going to play.

Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience will be unveiled in October at the yet to be confirmed opening night.

(Well is this to be believed or not? Jason was there, he knows what was going on. He knows who the players were, but why not just come out and say it all, what's there to hide? If Led Zeppelin had reformed with out Plant it really wouldn't be Led Zeppelin to most, including me.

Led Zeppelin has to have Robert Plant on vocals...end of! Anybody else as the lead singer is just not going to be Led Zeppelin even if they choose to call it Led Zeppelin, in my humble opinion. It would just be a cool band with some of Led Zeppelin's musicians.

Led Zeppelin is so engrained in our psyche and are legendary as the band that had the banshee golden hair God, the wizard guitarist, the almighty thundering drummer and the groove God laying it down that no other players could be Led Zeppelin & especially with another singer. I'm not saying that the NEW band wouldnt be as good, heck they could be really good, BUT it's just NOT the Zeppelin we all have iconosized for years.)
