Roger Waters Says Pink Floyd Reunion Unlikely

Roger Waters Says Pink Floyd Reunion Unlikely

by Music-News.com - May 30 2010

Roger Waters does not expect there will ever be another Pink Floyd reunion.

Waters has spoken to Xfm stating that a Pink Floyd reunion could happen for a similar live event such as Live Eight.

Although the former Floyd bassist did say it was unlikely, and certainly not immediate and also that singer David Gilmour was the main stumbling block, for a good enough reason the group would reform.

'I think it’s extremely unlikely. I don’t think David’s even faintly interested in it, particularly without Rick, For a one-off thing, for one charity event, I could see that happening again, like Live Eight. I think 3 [band members] is probably enough, two wouldn’t really be enough. I’d be up for it, for sure'.

And on the story of the band’s reunion for Live Eight, Waters said,

'[Bob Geldof] called me as a last resort. He’d spoken to David at considerable length and got the 'no’. So he called me and said 'will you call him?’.'

'He’d spoken to Nick [Mason, Floyd drummer] who said 'The only person who could possibly get David to do this is Roger. He’s the only hope you’ve got’. I did call him and he was very surprised. I got David’s number from Geldof, I didn’t have it!

'Thank goodness he thought about it for a day or two, I thought it was great, I loved it.'

(Like Robert Plant, David Gilmour just is not interested at this point in a reunion - sad really but you can't make someone do something they just are not fired up about. Also the fact that he's getting on in years and wanting to live a simple life and not be doing things he was doing when he was in days of old when gigging was what it was all about. I think it happens to all of us, we start to slow down and just want to chill by the pool. As for the fandom we crave to see our heros up on the stage, if just to hear and relive our own days of old.)

Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page: 'I Wouldn't Rule Out Replacing U2 At Glastonbury' - GIGWISE

Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page: 'I Wouldn't Rule Out Replacing U2 At Glastonbury' - GIGWISE

(Wouldn't it be lovely if only it could happen? Robert please just one more time please! :)

Jimmy Page says he “wouldn't rule out” Led Zeppelin replacing U2 at Glastonbury next month.

The Irish band have today been forced to cancel their inaugural headline slot at Glastonbury on June 25th due to the back injury Bono suffered last week.

The singer has been advised by doctors to rest up for eight weeks after undergoing emergency surgery in Munich and today personally phoned Michael Eavis to cancel U2's slot at Worthy Farm.

Rolling Stones Band Line-Up Mix Up

Rolling Stones Own Website Lists Ronnie Wood As Gone
by Paul Cashmere - May 25 2010

UPDATE: Less than two hours after this story was first published on the "small Australian website" Undercover, the Rolling Stones have updated their website to list Ronnie Wood as still with the band. Regardless, here is the story based on what was on the Stones website before they "edited" it after the most recent Undercover story.

While the Rolling Stones have been in damage control denying reports that Charlie Watts would no longer tour with the band (and we will all have to wait until the next tour to find out the truth), but they have not been so secretive about the fate of Ronnie Wood.

According to rollingstones.com/people#Ronnie-Wood Ronnie has left the band.

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts are all listed as being with the band from 1962-present. Founding member Brian Jones is listed as 1962-1969. Bill Wyman is listed as 1962-1992. Mick Taylor is down from 1969-1974.

However, Ronnie Wood on the Rolling Stones very own website is listed as 1976-2010.

So Ronnie left and they didn’t tell anyone?

There has been so much knee-jerking over the stories related to Charlie Watts’ future but according to The Stones, Ronnie has gone and it didn’t even rate an announcement.

So what is really going on in the Stones camp? There is apparently miscommunication from within which is why the stories get out and get published in the first place.

So has Ronnie really gone? What an exceptionally ill-timed typo if he hasn’t!

(Well is he gone or isn't he? Why so much miscommunication if that's really what it is? Or are they just in need of some new blood? Who would stand in for Ron Wood if he really did decide to leave the Stones? Can you believe the Stones having yet another tour? Will they ever retire?)

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has penned an emotional goodbye to Ronnie James Dio who died on the weekend from stomach cancer at the age of 67.

In the letter, Lars says how he first saw Dio perform with Elf back in 1975 and was a fan of Rainbow from the moment he joined the ban.

He says that when he heard that the Haven and Hell European tour was cancelled because Ronnie had taken a turn for the worse that he wanted to call him but "pussied out".
