U2 To Headline Glastonbury

U2 To Headline Glastonbury

Tim Cashmere - November 24 2009

U2 have been booked to headline Glastonbury for the 40th anniversary of the festival.

Britain’s Sun newspaper has quoted a source as saying “Everyone is over the moon that the deal has been done.

“Michael [Eavis, festival organiser] really wanted a huge name for the 40th anniversary and the fact U2 have never played Glastonbury in their 32-year career only adds to the mystique.”

Earlier this year Bono had said "I know lots of people want us to play. It's something we're working up our whole life to do. We really, really want to do this."

The band are scheduled for Friday June 25, 2010 during a break on their US tour.

According to The Telegraph, other acts rumoured to be appearing include The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Coldplay, Muse and Led Zeppelin (although I will believe that when I see it!)

The festival will take place on the last weekend of June, 2010.

Drop Dead Rock - Adam Ant & Deborah Harry DVD

Drop Dead Rock Starring Adam Ant and Deborah Harry To Be Released On DVD

11/23/2009

MVD Visual is pleased to announce the DVD release of the cult classic Drop Dead Rock on December 8, 2009. Drop Dead Rock stars '80's music icons Adam Ant and Deborah Harry. This film festival favorite played the art house circuit when it premiered in 1995. It was written by Ric Menello and Adam Dubin, the creators of the Beastie Boys classic music video Fight For Your Right To Party. Drop Dead Rock was directed by Adam Dubin who recently directed comedian Lewis Black's concert film Stark Raving Black. "I wanted to make a 60's movie about an 80's rock star in the 90's," said Dubin.

Drop Dead Rock is a no holds barred, rock and roll comedy. A down and out, rock n' roll band, Hindenburg, kidnap their favorite British rock star, Spazz-O, and hold him hostage. The problem is, Spazz-O's ex-porn star wife Holly Everest (Playboy lingerie model Chelsey Parks) and his back-stabbing manager, Dave Donovan (Adam Ant), can't wait to get their hands on his fortune, and have hired a hitman to do him in. Thanks to a media feeding frenzy, Spazz-O's career is hotter than ever. Enter media mogul Thor Sturmundrang (Deborah Harry) with a big advance check. Now Spazz-O is worth more alive than dead. Dave must outwit the bumbling band, clumsy cops, ruthless record execs and terrifying terrorists to get his just reward. Drop Dead Rock explodes in a comic free for all.

"The film is good. I can't tell you how much it made me laugh doing it," said Ant. "I still laugh now just thinking about it. It's kind of like a 90's Spinal Tap."

(Sounds like a real cool film. I know I'd love it just because Debbie Harry is on it.)

Aerosmith Steven Tyler appears with Joe Perry

Aerosmith intact: Steven Tyler appears with Joe Perry

By LiveDaily Staff

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler--who, for the past several days, appeared to be the band's former frontman--made a surprise appearance at Perry's solo-tour launch in New York City last night (11/10), during which the singer said he was not leaving the group.

"I just want New York--New York, I just want you to know: I am not leaving Aerosmith," Tyler said after taking the stage near the end of Perry's set at the Fillmore at Irving Plaza (see video below). "And Joe Perry, you are a man of many colors ... but I, motherf---er, am the rainbow!"
"There's been ... lots of rumors that we were having, like, some kind of a fight, or some kind of bulls--- like that," Perry added as his band began playing Aerosmith's "Walk This Way." "It ain't true."

Tyler then sang the classic Aerosmith tune with Perry and his band, a.k.a. The Joe Perry Project [ tickets ].

Tyler's and Perry's pronouncements followed several days of widespread reports that Tyler had left Aerosmith, and that the group was planning to tap a new singer to fill the void. Those reports were fueled by statements and tweets made by Tyler and Perry themselves.

Earlier this month, Perry told a Las Vegas newspaper that Tyler had apparently quit the band following a concert in the Middle East. Tyler, until last night, hadn't publicly denied the claim, only mentioning his intention to focus on "the brand of myself--Steven Tyler," in an interview with Classic Rock magazine.

Perry posted on his Twitter feed late Monday night (11/9) that the band was "positively looking for a new singer to work with."

"You just can't take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin," he continued, adding that "one of the members is doing his own thing and said so in the press. That's all I know."

Last month, Perry released "Have Guitar, Will Travel." The new set is his first under the Joe Perry Project moniker since 1983's "Once a Rocker, Always a Rocker." The guitarist and his backing band will support the set during their just-launched tour, which stretches into mid-December.

(Okay so then was it all for publicity? I didn't think Tyler would amount to much if he HAD in fact left Aerosmith.)
