by Paul Cashmere - May 30 2009

Once legendary producer Phil Spector will now be known for the rest of his life as Phil Spector, murderer. Spector will spend the next 19 years in jail for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson.

Spector murdered 40-year old Clarkson at his home in Alhambra, California on February 3, 2003.

He was originally charged with murder and went to court but the first case was dismissed because of a hung jury.

In this case, the retrial, witnesses testified how Spector used to play Russian roulette with a loaded gun with women. In Clarkson’s case, luck was not on her side.

Spector has had a long history of being a gun-tooting maniac. In a recording session once with John Lennon, Spector fired a gun in the studio.

Famous for his production style dubbed The Wall of Sound, Spector still maintains he is innocent and that Clarkson committed suicide.

Lana Clarkson was working as a waitress at the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd when Spector met her in 2003.

He took her back to his mansion where she was shot to death in the foyer of the house.

One witness testified that Spector said, “I think I killed somebody”.

Spector has been in jail since April 13 when he was found guilty of murder and was awaiting today’s sentence.
