The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story

The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story - Review - TV & Radio - Entertainment

Few people haven't heard Dark Side of the Moon, one of the biggest-selling albums ever. Even fewer haven't heard of Pink Floyd, the band that produced it, but less is known about the original lead singer, guitarist and principal songwriter, Roger "Syd" Barrett, who disappeared from the public stage in the late '60s in a swirl of psychotropic drug abuse.

Very sad indeed. One ponders what Pink Floyd would have been like had Syd Barrett remained healthy and remained with the band. Imagine No Dark Side or WYWH or even The Wall, which all were inspired by what happened to Barrett.

redandblack.com - Led Zeppelin needs 'Whole Lotta Love'

It is my life dream to be transported back in time to 1974, go on the road with Led Zeppelin, seduce one of the band members and enter into a completely monogamous marital relationship.

The question is . . . which band member?

The room is dark and smoky and maroon. As the clouds part, I see a young Robert Plant in all of his open-vested, bare-chested glory. He’s lounging on a couch. And he’s dragging on his cigarette, following me with his eyes.

I approach. We talk. Eventually because of my charm and beauty, Robert decides to refer me to his friend Jimmy — he thinks we’d be perfect for each other!

Ahhh, yeap every girls fantasy to be a groupie of one of the Zep boys, which one depends on who you favor...myself, well it has to be Plant, with Page following closely behind.

Whole lotta love for Plant at Pavilion

BostonHerald.com - the Edge: Whole lotta love for Plant at Pavilion

Last night at the Pavilion, the second date of a 23-show North American tour that began Wednesday in Providence, Plant and his crackerjack five-piece band, the Strange Sensation, were on fire for an hour and 45 minutes. The set list was spread evenly between classic Zeppelin tunes and selections from the splendid ``Mighty Rearranger,'' his first album of all-original material in 12 years.

At age 56, Plant's powerful voice may be an octave or two lower, but he sounded great and looked even better, though his face appears to be made of the finest Corinthian leather, deeply tanned and creased. The blond cascade of curls remains.

I was at this concert and it was a party right from the get go. A total stand up concert all the way, everyone was rocking, dancing, singing, in celebration, having a wild time. Plant delivered with full force. He sang lots of Zep songs and mixed in plenty of Mighty Rearranger throughout the set, Mighty Favorites: Mighty Rearranger where he played a mean harp! Shine it All Around, Enchanter, Takamba, Freedom Fries. Favorites from his Zep days were: When the Levee Breaks, That's the Way, Gallows Pole, Black Dog, show stopper Whole Lotta Love and a surprising Heartbreaker. His voice was in top shape, you could feel the power. At one point in the concert he had to compete with fireworks over Boston harbor, but no fireworks can compete with a star like Robert Plant! Not much mellowness to this set....Hard Rockin' all the way.
